BAT Installer problem

I couldn't find a place to make a new topic asking for help for a BAT installation problem, so I guess this is the best I can do...
Anyway...
I downloaded and installed Gmax, no problem.  Then I run the BAT installer, and it instantly tells me that I must install SimCity 4 Deluxe before I can use the BAT.  This confuses me, because I do have SC4 installed, and I'd like someone to help me with making the BAT installer understand that my computer does meet its requirements.

My computer runs Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (service pack 1 is downloading now) and although I know a lot else about it I think that's most of what matters.
My days here are numbered. It's been great and I've had a lot of fun, but I've moved on to bigger and better things.

You say you have SC4 installed. Is that the Deluxe version of it ? (or SC4 + the Rush Hour expansion pack)

x64 is that a 64 bit version of windows? There might be a problem with that.

Also, it looks for SC4 in the default path C:\Program Files\Maxis  did you install to another path?
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

The file path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe. I am aware that problems could arise from the 64-bitness of my OS.  In fact, there are two program files folders - one for x64 applications:

C:\Program Files

and one for x86 applications (32-bit):

C:\Program Files (x86)

The two program files folders are an OS standard - it is not my choice to have them that way.

Should it be installed in c:\program files instead of c:\program files (x86)?

EDIT: And now as I try to register Gmax, the registration code persistently doesn't work, even when I copy it directly from the Turbosquid website...
