Guys, take a look at this pic. It's an residential area with good healthcare, a good school, close to the city, access to recreational areas, pretty much all you need for a good residential area. Still, I've only got R§ buildings. What should I do?

What is the police and fire coverage for the area, and how is the water quality?

You may have meant to search for Houdini. (result of searching for XiahouDun on SC4D)

How about demand? You also need demand for any building to grow, though I'm assuming you have checked demand.

They're all high.

I was going to ask that question but somehow I forgot. My demand for R§§ and R§§§ buildings is below zero most of the time and my demand for R§ is trough the roof. I've never had that problem before installing the CAM. And I can't seem to get it to work.. &mmm

Maszi, I have just come across the same problem in a new city I am developing for my MD.

The commercial precinct is growing well with plenty of highrises, there is a small industrial area, yet not one residence higher than R$ has grown despite a population of 150k plus. All the surrounding tiles have good demand across the range and I'm not sure what the problem is with this city.

All the coverage stats are fine, education is good and there is plenty of transport options available. If I come across a solution will let you know.
Regardless, the city don't look to bad and will post an update if I find a cure or not.

Just one of those game oddities you come across every now and again.

Cheers

Most players usually want to see more of those shiny §§§ buildings, and encourage their growth.
However, at some stage, their demand will be more than fulfilled, and only R§ will grow.
Note that even CO§§§ employs more R§ than R§§§ (see CAM - Workforce and Occupation Demands for more information).

Using the Census Repostory Facility, version 2 is one way of keeping track of your supply and demand.

Don't mean to bring this back from the last page of the forums but I am having this problem even though the city has demand for R$$ and R$$$. Does anyone know why this happens and if so how to fix it? I have tried reloading once but no luck. Thanks.

There is a potential explanation, you don't have any R$$ or R$$$ buildings for the stage the game wants to build. It can be the case if you have used a blocker

I am using the No Maxis that works with cam, and I guess maybe that I have no stage 1 res for R$$. I will take it out and see what happens. Thanks.

Okay it does seem that the problem was that I didn't have any R$$ and R$$$ building at the low stages. I do not want to use the Maxis buildings though at all as I don't want to run into problems when I get to stage 8. Does anyone have a link to a pack with low density low stage R$$ and R$$$ buildings? I have all the cam packs but I guess there aren't any of these buildings in those? Any help appreciated.

There are very few of them... doesn't seem to be the most favourite bats to make... ::)
Here are some stage 1 residentials:
