News:

The SC4 Devotion Forums are no longer active, but remain online in an archived, read-only "museum" state.  It is not possible for regular members to post or use the private messaging system, and no technical support will be provided for any issues pertaining to the forums in their current state.  Attachments (those that still work) are accessible without login.

The LEX has been replaced with SC4Evermore (SC4E), and SC4E maintains an active Discord server.  For traditional forums, we recommend Simtropolis.

GMAX/BAT uses the following file formats for images: .BMP,  .JPG, .PNG, and .PSD. The .PSD files need to flattened, meaning you can't have layers in the .PSD files.

You can place the images anywhere. The models will maintain the "links" to the images as long as you don't move the files around. If you move the image files, you will have to tell your model where they are the next time you open it. I store most of my images in the Maps folder in the root of the GMAX directory. Some of my images are also stored in the same directories as my models. Others are stored where I need them to be. It's up to you where you store your images for your creations, and it's best if you choose a system that works for you in regards to organizing them. I have an entire folder of "Metals", which contains metal textures sorted by type (ie rust, panels, shiny, aluminum, etc.).
