Widescreen issues...

So I've just ported SC4 over to my new laptop.  Everything runs perfectly fine under Vista (surprisingly.)  However, my laptop has a widescreen display, so the in-game view appears slightly squashed.  (Which would not be an issue, but it also carries over to any screenshots.)

Is there any means of forcing SC4 to run widescreen.  Or, alternatively, in a window?  Preferably without booting the game from the command prompt.

use the -CustomResolution on the command line

here is mine
"E:\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1200x32 -f
