How does the game determine which building is built?

Hi

Hope this is not a too-stupid question.

I understand how Camelot buildings work (eg. stages), but wondering how the system determines how other buildings are built within each game?  Are buildings built based on where they are located within the Plugin folder?     I just have some downloaded buildings that grow all the time, yet others which I have downloaded  (and sometimes belonging to the same family eg. R$$$) appear less frequently.    I know I have them and eagerly await their growth.    Is it all totally random?

Anyone care to explain the mechanisms behind the game please?   This is more out of interest for me, than being an issue.   Maybe there is a thread that I can be directed to that gives this information out........

Thanks.

It is not random

I think it use some rules ( This is speculation )

It is a combination of :
-Stage needed at the growth time
-Wealth needed
-Land value
-Then the game look at at what zone density you zoned and the size of the zone ( ie the possible size of the lot )
- Others factors such as selected tilesets are taken into account

With all that factors, the game will build a list of possible lots to grow, then it will randomly choose one

After that if the lot is using a building from a family, it will choose one building mainly based on the capacity ( you can have a building with 2 R$ and one with 50 R$ in the same family not fair or smart but that can happen )

Rippel Jet made a post about half way down the first page of this thread. The information comes from the Maxis Prima Users Guide. Should answer your question.
