Most people use GMAX which you can download for free, from this site [link] but 3Ds Max is a more advanced version which comes for a fee.

Thanks, that is perfect as i already uses anther good program to create the models so I just needed it  to import them and render them to SC4,

Then you will also need the BAT which you can get from the EA site, or from here in the EA support section if you can't access EA (I couldn't - It wouldn't take my Product Code). There are heaps of good tutorials on this site for learning about the BAT, but I can't say for sure if you will easily be able to import your models into GMAX, it might need retexturing afterwards?

yah I just got the bat tool from the SC4 site, but you make a good point about the texture mapping, I dint think of that,  I will have to wait and see, what other tools would I might need?

The best thing is to try it mate.  As it's free you have nothing to lost.

can you only get a bat program for Gmax and 3D max, or is there other ones out there for different 3d programs

Diggis

Nope, only GMAX really.  BAT for Max works because the 2 programmes are very distant relations.
