Is there a way to make the railroad crossing gates come down earlier?

Hi All,

I'm sure several of you have come across this problem and I'm hoping one of you knows of a solution.

Problem: the crossing gates at railroad crossings come down way too early.  Even if I drive fairly slow, cars still manage to find their way onto the tracks in front of an approaching train.  I know UDI is not 100% lifelike but nailing 5 cars in one trip is a bit farfetched!

As in real life, crossing gates come down much earlier than usual so that the path should be well clear for a train and should a car/truck somehow stall on the tracks, there *should* be enough time for the occupants to get out to safety and the engineer to reduce speed somewhat.

Anyhow, does there exist a mod that can change this or is it hardwired into the game?

As far as I know, it is hardwired...
The gate itself is a RKT4 prop with three animated states, but there's no way to control the timing of those states other than assuming they are controlled from within the exe.

Was worth a shot.  You never know until you try right? :)

Thanks for the input RippleJet!
