Force custom lots to grow only on a specific footprint

Recently, in the hopes of making more realistic cities, I made many custom lots of varying sizes, some 1x4, 5x6, etc. However, in areas where I only want 1x2 zones to develop, those lots/zones are combining to form larger, e.g., 3x4 lots, thus destroying the character of the neighbourhoods I wish to make.

Thus, my question is, how do you limit a custom lot to only grow under a certain footprint? Some custom lots, such as Gascooker's 2x2 suburban semis have this behaviour. Nevertheless, while experimenting in the iLive Reader, I've been unable to replicate this behaviour, although I feel it must be a property of the .sc4lot file that is preventing them from combining 1x2 lots or subdividing 4x2 lots, etc., to grow.

If anyone has any leads on what property or other method could limit these larger lots from combining smaller zones or subdividing larger zones, it would be most appreciated!

Answered your post on ST... most people read the various major sites, so you might wait for an answer after you post before you post to every site...

You could try to zone every second 1×2 lot in high density and every second in 1×2 medium density,
as TheeLord (5½ years ago) showed in his New Rowhouses:

Lots having different densities never merge into one bigger lot.
A bigger, e.g. 2×2, lot might still split up into two 1×2 lots though.

Thank you, RippleJet and SC4BOY.

Thus, there is absolutely no SC4LOT property that governs a lot's ability to combine or subdivide lots? It's just chance and the lower tendancy for Gascooker's 2x2 lots to grow that explain why I've never had those combine or subdivide different lots when they grow?

At any rate, I'll have to rethink whether having some lot sizes justifies the trouble they cause. Otherwise, I'll have to tweak the properties so that the smaller lots are more favourable to grow than the larger ones; even, I might resort to eye-candy plopables! :o

And, to SC4BOY, after I posted to Simtropolis I had remembered that for the last while, Simtropolis has had a poor following among those people who would be able to answer my question. Thus, I should've posted here and only here in the first place, but since I hadn't realised till I posted there, it was too late.

That is (unfortunately for you) correct!
