Living in S.W. Ill,  most of my life, the interstates around here all have grassy, tree, medians, or even split apart when entering the river bottoms, with trees growing in the middle. Untill you get closer to St. Loius, then the median merges and looks like the highway built into SC4, there is none!!Could it be possible for some programmer to come up with a plugin to look like the one I am describing.&idea  Alot of my areas in the game are rural and void of medium to high rise buildings.

Making a long gentile curve to the highway would be good also. The abrupt curve in the game looks good if you have a building that you dont want to smash, or a river is in the way.

To me, the non median highway in a rural setting just looks funny. :D

Hi Sunshawk-

Does this fit what you're talking about? (Probably an extreme example. :D)

That's the Rural Highway mod, better known simply as RHW.  It's been in development for the better part of 2 years, and uses the ANT Plugin from the NetworkAddonMod to create a 4-lane highway in which the two halves are separable.  A new version, RHW v13 Beta, was also released to the public this past week.  I'm one of the developers on the project, so if you have any questions about the RHW, feel free to ask.   ;)

Yup, Tarkus, it seems to be.  Kinda hard to tell from the level it's from.
Where it branchs off, can you put in a exit/on ramp.

Some examples I found at  "www.interstate50th.org/history/2006-04-12.shtml"

The bottom pic is the best, for me. It is what I meant by a long gentile curve. But to be able to add content to the Median like seen in the other pics would be simply Kool !

Also, I remember seeing the new mod on the lex, but when i seen the picture, it was not what I xspected. I kept going on, passing up the new entry. Goes to show that we need to read the fine print .

Sunshawk, you can add anything to the median in between the the highway. You can make the median as small (where the two separate roadways are right next to each other) or as large (Tarkus' example) as you want. In addition, the tiles in between aren't "protected", so you can add trees, lots, etc.

As for the curves, the RHW only supports one type of curve (right now anyways), but it seems gentle enough. And you can put an on/off ramp anywhere on the RHW, just like the Maxis highways.
After a long absence, I'm back! And I will be starting a new MD soon.

I loaded the file and I must say I am amazed. Took a little to figure out but after reading post/posts it became simple. Looking forward to the updates.
