In my game, I have a "help" window that shows the color coding for trip types.  It does nothing else.  I've seen images of traffic patterns with colored arrows showing trip types.  I am assuming these are related.  My issue should be apparent, I've got no colored arrows showing trip types.  This would be useful.  Any idea what I might be missing?

I assume you mean these kinds of path arrows: :)

Those appear through the cheat code DrawPath.
For that you need the Maxis extra cheats.dll, achieved from Maxis by Buggi. ;)

Diggis

I would assume he meant the route query tool.  You need to click on a building or a network tile and it'll show you the arrows.

Well, both I think.  And whatever else it happens to remind you of that you think important.  The only effect I have currently gotten with the help question mark under the help question mark is the window with trip type colors and a balloon that says how many cars.

With the game exploded into so much materials, I never know if the thing is a cheat, a Maxis upgrade, a mod, a support program, or what.

As I've seen two types of traffic indicator arrows, both fat and thin, in posted pics, I'm just not sure if they are a different version of the same thing or two different things or what.  They would be  useful though in determining if my network has been constructed properly.

Thanks a bunch.

You are clicking in the right place for the Route Query tool.  Was there any traffic where your mouse was?  You wont see a path without traffic. After noticing that there was traffic did you click the mouse?  Clicking the mouse will get you the fat lines.  If not, perhaps you should re-install SC4.  I have not heard of a mod that messes with your route query.

But from reading your post you should probably clean up your plugins folder anyway.  How many MB (GB) is it?

You all have been tremendously helpful.  I now have both functionality, one being the Maxis debug dll that gives me path arrows, the other being the knowledge of how to use the standard trip type query (In my random clicking about the screen, I never hit upon clicking a building.)

The Showpaths function is giving me a an excellent resource for working with the mods as it lets me know if things are really connected.  It has illuminated the fact that, in spite of it's appearance, dragging an RHW through a tunnel doesn't pass any traffic. But that's a separate problem.
