Hi,

Please see the attached screen.

I have this graphical issue.
Weird thing is that I only have this issue with parts on the region view in which there is elevation, as you can see in the screen.

Anyone have an idea what can be causing this problem?
Perhaps a terrain mod plugin?

Thanks in advance.

Gillian

I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor
ATI Radeon 3870 512mb Graphics card
2 Gig Internal memory
Screen is 24" - Resolution 1920x1200

While SC4 suppports a custom screen resolution, creating the regional image seems to have the issue that you showed if you're using a very high resolution. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it, apart from saving the city while running the game in a lower resolution.

Yeah, custom resolutions cause such problems.

I'm considering buying a new screen (not for simcity) and I'm mostly interested in vertical resolution, and in that aspect 1920x1200 is "better" than 1920x1080, but the only screen available I found in a (quick) web search is the Apple Cinema 24". Very expensive, but what troubles me most is the 16:10 ratio, instead of the *standard" 16:9.

Has anybody had problems with this ratio (again, not talking about SC4), like pixelation/blurring, stretched images, distorted videos and the like?

Andreas

I can't say anything about this resolution, but SC4 works fine on my 22" screen with 1680x1050 resolution (and I don't get the bug mentioned above; it appears that it's restricted to even higher resolutions). My LG L227WT also has a 16:10/4:3 switch, so 4:3 images/videos won't be distorted.

As far as I can tell it is specifically caused by vertical resolutions exceeding 1200 pixels.. no other parameter seems to matter. I am puzzled by the fact that you say your vertical is at 1200, so maybe there is a horizontal component as well.. I've never come across that so perhaps you can find the limits. You can try altering your shortcut  to run with the -f parameter to run "full screen". Most modern video cards and monitors will adjust to any parameters in full-screen mode as long as the ratio of H:V is correct so try the -customresolution:enabled and the -rHHHHxVVVV parameters as well where H is horizontal and V is vertical resolutions..

edit: heheh.. forgot to mention, simply changing resolution won't do it.. you must open and save the city again in order for the glitch to go away..

Just got back into SC4 after a multi-year hiatus.  I have a 30" Dell screen that goes up to 2560x1600, and was definitely dissapointed when I discoved the cause of the glitch in region mode. :(
At 2560x1600 the problem space covers about 40% of a big city.
At 1920x1200 the problem space covers about 15% of a big city.
At 1920x1080 the problem is gone.

So it definitely appears as the issue is anything vertical over 1080.

I guess I can run the game at 2560x1600 when working on cities, and just reload it at 1920x1080 when I want to see the region view.

I'm afraid not, I think the preview image is generated separately for each city, upon saving.
