Hi all I just want to say I just love your maps - you guys rock with these. But I do have a question regarding Invermere Valley - In your picture it shows the map with a ton of green on it - but I put the map I have 90 percent snow covered. Is there something I am missing like a height modd or somthing. I love this map. The same thing with the grand tetons map - the entire thing is snow covered. Any advice would be great thanks in advance. Sorry if this in the wrong spot I couldnt find anywhere else to ask this question

Hey Citynut,

Thanks for the comment on Invermere Valley and our maps!

There is nothing wrong with your modd except it is probably the original Cycledogg Terrain.  Beskhu3epnm has made some newer modifications to it in a couple files.  I personally dont know which one he gave me to use.  And I am not sure where he posted them, I will go see if I can find it for you.  But he will be able to help you later tonight or early tomorrow morning when he gets on if I dont first.

EDIT I have figured out what happened.  The custom Cycledogg Terrain Mod used for this map was suppose to be uploaded in the zip with the SC4M file uploaded.  But the map is so large in size that it was removed.  I will talk to Beskhu3epnm, and have him upload his custom file.  Sorry for the inconvenience, it was a mistake on our part that was overlooked.

Thanks again,

JPlumbley

In terms of the Teton map (which I have worked on quite extensively) The map download included a "snowcapped" file. That file can be thrown into the columbus terrain mod folder. It will modify the snow line elevation (did for me).

In Cycledogg's recent Meadownshire terrain mod, it actually includes two different "snowcapped" files. One for a higher snow line and one for a lower. But the trick with Teton is, it has such a high elevation to start with (1800 meters in the valley floor), most "snowcapped files aren't going to work right. This was the case. I actually had to alter the entire map's elevation downward by 1500 meters to get those Meadowshire snow files to work right.

But to make a long story short, as mentioned, Beskhu3epnm included a custom "snowcapped" file with Teton that works well, as is. Maybe try that file with Invemere (while you wait for the missed file) and see how it works.

Hope this helps.

Ok I know I read the readme on the Teton map and I sorry I could be wrong but dont remember seeing anything about the snow modd having to be in there. But it did work thanks. I am using the Medowshire modd and not the Columbus one. hear is a pic of what the snow modd did for the Invermere Valley one. It look so much pretter with out it, but I would of been pulling my hair out wondering why I couldnt build anything in the vally part - there is water there :D

I just saw the pic again at Simtrop and there is now water on the lower left side of this map. makes me wonder now what am I doing wrong.

Hi again Citynut,

Your not doing anything wrong.  That version of Cycledogg's Terain Modd you now have installed has the water level set higher than what the original SC4 water level is.  There is two ways to fix this.  Other than waiting for Beskhu3epnm to upload his custom for Invermere Valley.

1. Using SC4TF:
     - Open Invermere Valley
     - Now, I am not sure what the values are in you Cycledogg's Terrain Mod are. But, you can use the Raise Terrain tool under the Global Tools palette.  I am going to estimate by the looks of your water level that the ground will need to be raise about 500m to have the same water level.

          OR

2. Using iLive Reader:
     - Open CP_ColumbusPlayTerrainParametersForUseWithCPT_No7TreeController (this is the file that describes the terrain parameters.)
     - There will be an exemplar with an IID = 0x00000001, look at it.
     - In this exemplar there will be a value named Sea Level, this needs to be set to 250 (the default.)

Citynut,

Glad you even downloaded the map to begin with. This has been a labor of love for me for the past year or so. I finally got it right, passed it off to JPlumbley to edit, and posted it for upload.

In any event, we forgot to include the modified file for the columbus terrain mod. Here's how I do it:
1. Install mod selecting "high" snow line
2. Replace snowcapped_higher.dat with the provided file
3. Open and enjoy (PEG's limestone rock gives a great effect on the rocky terrain).

As jplumbley has used his account to upload the map, I will have to get him to edit it appropriately. I hope to have the proper file for you tomorrow. I promise, you will not be disappointed with the map once this mod is present. It is the best map I have ever seen..... (I know... even maps have dependencies these days!!)

I don't think I could just upload that file, as the original author is cycledogg. I have his permission to include a modified version of this file in my uploads only...

So check back a little later on, maybe even tomorrow.... Thanks for the DL!

OK well, since I am unable to find the edit file button for SC4D LEX right now, I have updated the file at STEX.  The only difference is that I have added the missing file.  Sorry for the mistake once again.

Heres the link to STEX at the top of the list is Invermere Valley:

Boy do I feel stupid  &mmm- He had two snow modds that came with the Medowshire terrain modd - but they were hidden in the STEX_Downloads file.  :-[ I didnt know about them untill BarbyW pointed me to that folder. This is what I was looking for, a snow modd that did the mountain itself but not the valley. I just want to say thanks again for all your help. obtw the snow modd you attached to the new upload - dos'nt show snow anywhere, not even on the highest peak - sorry :(

But I am going to start a city Journal using this fantastic map - I hope I dont dissapoint no-one

Citynut...  Thats an awesome picture!!  Thank you for showing it, which custom mod did you use for that one?

The members here of NHP are always happy to see pics from people enjoying our products.  If you have anymore to show off, feel free.  We really want to see our maps being used!!

Citynut,

Picture looks fabulous, and you'll find that once all of the tiles are switched over, it will look like a work of art, rather than just a map. I think it's our best project so far...

As for the snow line, it is kind of peculiar. That particular file came from jplumbley's archive, and he may have the alternate version for that plugin (I use the same map, but at actual elevations 798m-3483m). At this point, I have an original if you would still like to give it a shot.

I have showcased some images with this plugin, and the map itself in two locations:
1. Show Us Your Best Terraforming! (page 5 - used PEG's Limestone Rock Mod)
2. beskhu3epnm's Mapping Projects (page 2)

So check them out, and drop me a line sometime if you would like some fantastic images for your CJ. I've thoroughly showcased the map!

to answer you question I used the CPT_No6_zzMedowshire_TerrainController_HigherSnowPatch which like I said came with the download . But it is hidden in the STEX_Downloads dir. Glad you like it. Soon in a day or two I should be starting my CJ using this map under the BSC section of the forum. Look foward to seeing you there
