Hi all!

I'm very new to the lot editing, and in fact this is my first serious attempt to actually get something done with LE. Since I have installed the SFBT Railway texture, the gantry lots for railway, which contain the default maxis dirt texture, are irrelevant and I would love to replace the base texture with the one that came with the SFBT Railway mod.

This is the file I was referring to: http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=14264

However, I have a few questions:

  • What happens to the original file after I save the lot? That is because the .dat file contains several lots.
  • What is the texture ID used for SFBT railway mod? This might be the wrong place to ask, but since it's part of my question so I thought I'd ask ;)

This is the furthest progress I've made:

Thanks a lot in advance for your help ;)

Andreas

As long as you press "save" (not "save as"), a new SC4Lot file with the same ID as the one in the DAT is created, so if you need the DAT for something else but the lots, simply put them into a subfolder, or rename them, so they will load after the DAT file. As for the SFBT Railway Texture Mod, the grass (and concrete) textures are taken from the game, so you should find them in the list of textures that is provided in the Lot Editor.

Thanks Andreas! After fooling around with the LE yesterday night, I've managed to get the lots modded :) thanks a billion!

I thought it'd only be fair to share what I did to the file eventually as a proper followup (and closure).

  • I opened LE, and modified all the lot files from "FF_ElectricRailwaysmod.dat" and gave them new base textures, and saved them ("Save" option).
  • I opened the same DAT file in reader, removed the LD, PNG and Examplar files that are not referring to the props. I figured out that what I really need for the newly created SC4LOTs are the prop files for the catenaries,
  • Voila, I'm done!
