This is my very first MD!! It is called Jack City because I couldn't think of a good name so I just named it after myself. Here are some pictures of what I have so far:

Here are some suburbs, to the South of them is a park currently under construction. It will be in the next update.

To the North-West of the suburbs, some mansions where the cities very wealthy people live.

Here is the city's airport, it has a capacity of 250 000.

When I first built this figure 8 style residential area, I didn't expect high-rises to pop-up so quickly, but they did. I am going to build up around it so it fits in better with its surroundings.

Here's a high-tech industry area.

Now we move on over to the South-Western part of the city. This sunken Highway continues about halfway through the city before turning into the nearby city of Bayview.

A sunken mall near a busy commercial area. I think I might have to remove the hockey truck mod, there are too many of them  :D

With over 9000 people using these rail lines every day, no wonder these trains are jammed like this.

And finally a planned elevated rail line. The red line is a road running behind those buildings. 2000 people use it, so I have decided to bring the elevated rail line (in blue) through to solve the traffic problems.

So that's what I have so far. Next update will be soon. Please comment!!!

Welcome to SC4D and the wonderful world of MDing. jacksunny. You've made an interesting start, and I wish you all the best.

I must ask you to change your png images to jpeg, though. If you don't know how, send me a PM and I'll be glad to help you. Please review the Rules for (MD) authors here.

I really liked your beginning!

Hi Jack, (don't say those words at the airport) I guess what makes Jack City different from Jacksonville is that it looks so far like a neighborhood for the rich?

Schulmanator

Nice work. You are off to a fine start and I am impressed with your initial showing. Looking forward to more...  :satisfied:

Okay so for my next update I was going to show some pics of some suburbs I made, until I started having major traffic problems in the busiest section of my city. Here's a pic of the problem spot:

Thousands of sims are using these networks to commute to the city's 2 main business districts. There is no way they can handle them all, therefore sims are beginning to abandon their homes. I need some advice as on what to do. I want to try to solve this problem without destroying too many buildings (I already had to take down a whole bunch to build the elevated rail)

I should probably also add in that there is a subway network with about 2000 sims using it too.

Well, commute times are always an issue. I reccomend some dual network light rail as well as regular heavy rail and dual network el rail as well. You might need to widen your roads too. Also, zone some more industry/commercial closer to the houses. Make sure you city is well connected. I also suggest reading this thread to help with abandonment. Hope this helps!

Alex

If you can afford it, build a huge subway network. Place subway stations in every corner and connect them by all sides. Here is an example from my M.D., where subways transports Sims everywhere they want.

Unrealistic and expensive, but your Sims will thank you :)

Hmmm, my city currently has around 7 million dollars, but I don't think it has enough income right now to be able to afford it. Maybe I'll give it a shot anyway. Thanks!!!

That's why I use the money cheat. I don't concern myself with finances cos' money is no object, in my style. Look for the "Maxis extra cheats .dll" on the LEX, and then while in-game, punch in the code "moolah (x)", whereby (x) is between 1 and 1 trillion, I think. I usually enter "999999999", and it seems plenty.

Thanks for the advice everyone and I built a bit more elevated rail and some subway stations to solve the problem. This update has pictures of some suburbs.

This is the local elementary school.

And this is the local high school.
So that's it for now. Comments are appreciated, good or bad!!!

I like what I see. The ponds and parks in the center of the res areas make it look so open and nice. Looks like great neighbourhoods.

Hey everyone...
I have decided to start over from scratch and make a new Jack City, this one has a major case of the phantom slider bug in the crime section. It brings the crime financing down to zero every month and I have to bring it back up. Its getting really annoying. I didn't really like how the city was coming along anyway. Some new pictures will be posted soon!!!
