Hello, i was just wondering weather anyone had the individual euro texture files for the rhw2, i am considering editing them to create a uk edition, (hopefully the first euro textures with lhd support) anyway extracting the textures from mrtnrln looks a rather daunting task, any help would be much appreciated.

Hopefully i shall be able to recreate single-carrgeways built in the last 20 or so years, much like most of the A143 in norfolk/suffolk

well i'll just add that i would be happy to help, i do have past experience in texture editing (in ms flight simulators and bve), however i was aiming to possibly make a pack with uk-style give way markings, hatching, merging areas, etc, and maybe rhw without hard shoulder to represent high quality dual carriageways in the uk, however thankyou for your reply.

If you just want to make a pack of textures to replace the current ones, thats easy.

You just need to make a .dat in Ilives Reader which contains your textures with the IIDs of the originals. I'm not too good in explaining it, but here you can find some sort of a tutorial that might help you.

Just ask if you need any help!  :)

thankyou for that Ciuu96, the tutorial seemed very useful however i'm having trouble finding FSHman to extract the textures, what would be ideal though is a copy of the textures already as jpegs or simulat so i only had to convert one way and save time by not looking for the textres i want in the huge rhw euro texture file.

(also just to clarify i'm not demanding that someone else do this work (note i've changed the subject), i think i would enjoy the challenge, and lern alot)

Actually, there are a lot better tools out there than FiSHMan for the job nowadays.  I've personally become a big fan of null45's BatchPNGToFSH program for my importing purposes.  You can read about it here and the program itself is up on the LEX here.

Additionally, for the reverse process (converting FSH files into PNGs), I use Jonathan's tools, which are attached throughout this thread.

We always welcome more textural options, and I'm thrilled someone's interested in making a more "UK-ified" version.  To give you a little advance warning, the are going to be adjusting the scale a little bit as part of the next release, with the introduction of the new "V5-Spec" textures in RHW Version 4.2.  Things will actually be a bit narrower and smoother from both mrtnrln's Euro set and the default North American set included in the current RHW release.  It may work best to wait until we have the initial V5-Spec textures released, and I may see about uploading the whole lot of them in their raw PNG format somewhere around that time, as I suspect a lot of folks will be wanting to mess around with them. :)

well i may hold on until the new textures are released, however i did put together a prototype base texture.



i'll be anticipating the v5-spec texture release

sorry just one question, will the v5-spec textures be choices of which you only choose one, or will they work like sam?

Not a silly question in the least. :)  In fact, it's one that's been asked periodically. 

Due to the sheer size of the RHW (which is only going to grow exponentially) and the fact that many of its components are puzzle piece-based items, a SAM-type setup for the RHW would be a massive undertaking that isn't really feasible, and would take time and resources away from adding more essential functionality to the mod.

Besides, motorways/freeways do tend to use consistent road markings across a country.

I won't use it (the standard Euro style is more in line with the style of roadway used here in Oz), but I've gotta give credit where due, you've done a very nice job on that texture, jibjohn!
