Well, on the picture below you can clearly see that I do NOT have any residentials, commercials nor industrial growth, only zones, but....since more than 50 years, nothing, and I mean nothing  has grown.
I tried the residential boosts, nothing....I tried different mods for zoning growth, nothing.....I even downloaded the Radical mod and still....nothing! I also plopped schools, health and fire departments etc, made connections to the neighboring tiles etc etc.  I have power and water, all well connected to the zones. The game simply stopped functioning and all demands are either equal or lower than the middleline on the chart.
I need a solution to this, help or any ideas will be appreciated.

Here is what I did. I had a city of more than 5000 on this tile, but all of sudden I had this great idea of re-terraforming the river and I needed to raise the terrain in godmode to achieve that appearance of the river that I had in mind, and so I could redo or re-terraform the riverbed all over to my liking. Since I didn't like the city anyways, it didn't bother me that it was destroyed while raising the terrain. Only the garbage pile stayed, which of course I knew that it was going to and some other ground and overlay textures (4 of them) , but which I simply bulldozed.
But then, when I was ready to grow the town again, nothing was happening, as if the game stopped functioning. Hm.....!? Nothing grows anymore. No people, no cars, no nothing. (...and no, I didn't forget it on pause &Thk/( )
The population mark stayed at 4,908 since 50 years and there are any constructions on the map. It even says that it has a busstop, but there isn't !!!
Can a game get "Alzheimer" with age also?....lol
I'm out of ideas...... :(

Thanks for anything that could or could not help. ;)

Fred

Have you tried:

  • Starting a new city tile and see if anything grows? If it does, there is something wrong with the particular tile.
  • Removing all growth mods from the plugins folder? If it helps, some mods are in conflict with each other.
  • If all fails, purge your plugins folder and troubleshoot using the binary method (put half of the plugins in, and if it works, put half of the remaining half and etc).

I personally have not faced the problem of terraforming causing the loss of growth momentum. Something in your plugins might be messing the algorithm up.

p/s: I initally suspected that you might not have any Stage 1 buildings in your plugins (which is possible if you block out all Maxis buildings when having CAM installed), but seeing that the growth is negative, I don't think it's the lack of Stage 1 lots.

Also, if nothing works, you can still try to bulldoze the entire city tile using the god mod thingy (annihilate the city)... it remove everything except the terraforming.
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Tried all that......had it with no plugins and no mods and it doesn't grow. Got to do something that I did to it while lifting (rasing) the terrain in godmode.

Did that too , with a copy of the tile and it works alright. But the problem is that I wanted to keep all the Mayorplops (rocks etc in the riverbed)- (3 hrs of work) and they disappear with the obligeration.

There should be something that I could do that'll make the city back to 0 population and that it starts growing again without having to obligerate everything?

Thanks

Fred

Maybe something in the reader's properties would do it... but I'm really a s*it at that..

??? Hmmmm. Interesting message. Single bus stop has Sims baffled. But it gives me a clue as to what the problem is. I think a lumber truck has jack knifed on the highway. All the Sims who are riding the bus to Ghosford have been sitting on the highway for hours.

I fact, I just talked with Bordertown resident Joe Mendenhall. He's nearly eight hours into what should have been a four-hour bus trip. He's having some doubts. "Sitting here on this bus waiting for the lumber crews has given me serious misgivings" he said. "I'm not sure I'm on the right bus. I'm not recognizing any of those yellow or green RCI zones that Mayor Fred mapped out nor the S curve of the creek". Mendenhall said he has considered asking the bus driver if he is on the right bus, but he's sure he'll figure it out by the time he arrives at that the one and only bus stop.

Seriously, save a copy of the region before you do any experimenting. That's my best (and inadequate) advice.

Good Luck

lol....Jim.....I suppose originally Joe Mendenhall was on the way to see Bob Mangarten, right? Well then, I suppose that he's on the right bus to Access Center, since Ghosford is now called Goosebay, just north of Bluebay and south of the Winding River....still some hours to go on Highway 15 though. ;)

Don't worry Jim, that surely is good advice to make a copy. I always do before fooling around with files, I once learned the hardway. Besides, I always keep a double on my computer (on another Harddrive or DVD) of almost everything....never know.

Problem solved!
I don't know why, but the second time that I tried obliterating a copy of the citytile, all the mayor ploppings stayed in place and no more citizens in the population window.
And guess what, all the zones grow now....Woohoo!

Back to work now.... and thanks for the help folks.

;)
