Please do accept my apologize if that topic already exist.

I have just change my computer and the new one have Windows 8 installed. I would like to install SC4 on it but Windows 8 is currently a big mystery for me. Where should be the "plugins", "Regions" etc. placed? Where should be game installed?

Can someone tell me step by step what to do?

Just like it is on windows 7 and prior version. ;)

(If you have an SSD in your system, install the game on it, you'll benefit from the write/read speeds more than a good HDD. )

Thanks

If there is any guide about installing on Windows 7 in this forum?

Just follow the instructions after inserting the installation disk. You can change the installation folder and everything else is done automatically. You can find your plugins folder in My Documents\Simcity 4\Plugins

Thanks
But is it better to install the game in Program Files or in the PF(x86) version?

I've read about some crashes and I found the advise to install it on x86. What do You think?

MandelSoft

Install it in the PF(x86) folder, because it's a 32-bit application (and not 64-bit as the rest of Windows 8)

and it also depends of if you are using your CD-rom or Steam. if going thru Steam, it will install in the steam app folder (along with your other steam games)

You can still change the target folder for Steam games, or even any one of them. I have two folders in use: one for small games and other for moddable games.
