Just kidding of course but hey.... It looks like it  ;)

What is happening to my cities.... Well , every city I start, no matter what region i try. all i get are pedestrians...
No one, and i mean no one, is driving  :o . It doesn't matter where i make jobs , it doesn't matter what kind of roads i use, all i get are pedestrians... no busses , no trams,trains,monorail... everyone is walking, if need be all the way to the other site of the city on a large tile. No cars whatsoever except for freight trucks.

Anyone any idea,cause i'm baffled

Tnx
Willem

Most likely it's a plugin. Clear your plugins folder and see if that changes it. If so, it's a matter of figuring out which plugin it is. If it persists, reinstalling the game could help.

Once upon a time I had this happen to me.  When I looked into it I found out I had a "Park and Ride" plug-in and option checked in my NAM installation.

InvaderNat

Nah he wouldn't like SC4, there's no climate change scaremongering in it. :D

Kl408

@ threestooges: I was afraid someone would suggest that  ;)
@ eclipticalstorm: Well, it turned out to be a plugin all right, after completely removing and reinstalling the NAM the problem was gone
@ invadernat: Nope , SC4 is our last safe haven from the greenminded meddlers that are pestering everyone into doomsday thinking  ;D

Well,
as i said above , the NAM was somehow responsible for this strange phenomenon, after a reinstall of the NAM and only the NAM the problem was gone.. Maybe something got mixed up after the install of some other modds ( don't want to blame the NAM without proof) , an essential file that got overwritten and is now back in its intended version after reinstalling the NAM, who knows...

Everything is working again and Mr Gore wasn't harmed when making these changes  :D

Tnx for your help guys

Its part of the NAM, specifically from the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool when you install the NAM you can select "Park and Ride" as an option ... this from the help manual

QuoteThis field changes the way the game works so that cars cannot take the Sims directly to their workplace. Instead, they are useful only for taking them to parking facilities where they can either walk the rest of the way to work, or (most usefully) parking facilities where they can take mass transit to work. In the second case, you need to build such parking facilities near mass transit stations; putting them at the edge of residential zones can be especially useful. If this option is checked and sufficient parking facilities are not built, the Sims will end up driving all the way to work and then discover that they have no place to leave their car. As a result, they don't make it to work, they get fired, and they leave town, leaving behind an abandoned residence.

Parking facilities that are included in the models of various buildings generally don't count for the purposes of Park & Ride, because these parking facilities are generally just eye candy. However, parking facilities that are part of mass transit stations (such as the standard Maxis train station) almost always are functional, and therefore work well in Park & Ride systems.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?" DEATH thought about it. "CATS," he said eventually, "CATS ARE NICE.

Yes, I've read that part but i never realised i had that option selected... When i removed the NAM it also deleted the config file for the traffic tool so after a reinstall the option was turned off and that made the difference...
