I've a simple question about the query tool.... What would prevent you from using it on a lot?

I ask because I have downloaded a few houses from Matbb325 and relotted them to my liking. However when they grow in game I cannot use the query tool on them and as such can't set them as historical so that they don't get overgrown by something else.
(The same happens with some condos I downloaded and relotted too, from the same author.)

Anyone has an idea? It's really bugging me.

Do the originals have custom queries? If somehow you remove these without changing the query to one of the defaults, the game would be unable to show it.

If the lots have custom queries, which I think Matt's lots do, and the file which contains said custom query is not in the plugins folder you'll be unable to query them. So my guess would be the custom query is included in the original lot file but not in your re-lot. If so, the solution would be either to copy/paste the custom query into your re-lot file, or set the query of the re-lot to the default Maxis query.

How would I go about setting my relot to default maxis query?

So having the original lot files in my plugins would let me use the query tool? What about if the delete the LotConfigurations exemplar in the reader to prevent the old lot from growing, would the query still work?

this one I know! and its real easy too
Just use the reader to change the Query exemplar GUID to 0x4A5672BF in the building DESC.

That should do it as its the one maxis use for the query
Hope it works for you.

Hehe, beat me to it!  :D

But to add, if the custom query is indeed included in the original files, than your alternative solution would work as well.
