I recently bought SimCity 4 from GoG and installed it. I fixed the crashing and freezing problems by using SC4 Launcher. When I go to save my cities I get an error message. I tried existing cities I had from my old computer and a brand new city in a new region but none will save. I tried running it as an administrator, changing the file path to MyDocs/ SimCity 4/ Regions but no change. I also tried it with an empty plugins folder but that makes no difference. I don't know what to do any more.

What is your anti-virus ? That could be a cause.

I have Bitdefender on my laptop and it appears that's what was causing it. I turned it off and saved two cities on a new region successfully. I will try it on an existing region now.

Thanks for the advice.

If you go to the notifications tab in bitdefender there should be a message stating it blocked Simcity. It will then provide option to allow it access, and that will prevent the issue from happening again.
