Hey, I have a question about when CAM 1.1 will come out.

Not to clutter up the board with useless topics, but I got CAM 1.0 when it came out, enjoyed it, then found out about CAM 1.1 that'll fix/improve upon the original. I decided, "Hey, that's cool. A few months and an awesome game will be even more awesome." ...that, and I didn't want to build up an entire super empire just to need to redo it to make it even more super, you know, it would feel like wasted gameplay when I could have had it so much better.

Now, I don't have a problem with waiting, since you tend to get a better product at the end of a long haul...but I haven't seen any updates, or really, posts at all on this board in over a month...so I decided to pop up and see if someone could give me an update on its progress. Heck, I'm not even looking for a percentage, or a ballpark figure on when it'll come out...I just want a "Hey, we're still working on it. It's all cool, bro."

Thanks for your help in advance. :)

Soon...  :)

OK so that's the short answer. A lot of progress has been made, but there is unfortunately still one little problem that needs to be ironed out before the release. There is a way to fix it, but it's a complicated procedure. But we're still working to find a simpler way. Time will determine if it's possible, and then which route will be taken.

But don't let that deter you from developing a great region. Once CAM 1.1 is ready, you should still be able to use the same cities without too much of a problem. There will be some adjustments here and there, but that's all part of being a good mayor.  More on this closer to the release.

Where would I be able to find more info?

There isn't much about it in the public yet... ::)
The start of CAM 1.1 beta testing was announced here though:

Currently we are testing beta version 1.0.5.

The issue we have with the doubled regional residential capacity and workforce seems to have only one solution.
And that would be to patch the CAM RCI exemplars directly into SimCity_1.dat.

Since I am not a programmer, I'm relying on our ToolMan to find a solution.
As long as he's busy with another X Tool, we will have to wait for him though... ::)

i've seen mods that let you adjust workforce demand, so why isnt the solution as simple as writing a mod that would halve COM and IND demand?

That would probably be even more difficult to handle in all situation, because it would lead to an unbalanced situation where incorrect drives are adjusted by demand modifiers.

Besides, it wouldn't stop the reported regional residential capacity from approaching the long-term regional demand sooner than otherwise would be the case. Reducing I and C demand woudn't help that at all. Instead you'd find yourself at some point having negative demand in all RCI types.
