Some techy questions about LE creations..

Since I am trying to create some in-hous Under-Highway stuff, I ended up with a slew of questions:

a) where does the LE get it's list of props & textures from - am I right in assuming that it scans the entire plug-in folder (and thus takes a a long while to load)?

b) can it open files from outside the plug-in folder (so I can finally DAT-pack)?

c) what is a Parent Cohort? This is not really LE but Reader stuff, but I don't want to waste folks time with yet another threat, I'm already annoying enough. Found Andrea's excellent explanation already..Danke vielmals

d) where can I find oversized textures as props, or offeset textures or props?

e) how do you turn anything into a prop in the first place? I presume the Reader or SC4Tool can do it.

That should do it for now. Below is a pic of what I am trying to do (apologies to the creator of those walls - I only used them because they are the right height and width).

Heh, it's an interesting concept! Good work

a) Yes, indeed. With a big plugin folder, it can take awhile loading... without notifying you.
b) It cannot open files outside of the plugin folder, but datpacking should be no problem.
c) Nvm
d) Not sure what you, mean but offset rendered props are listed in the same list normal props are listed.
e) You first have to BAT it in the Building Architect Tool, then load the exported model (.sc4Model) in in the Maxis Plug-in Manager (PIM), and select it to be used as a prop.

Be sure to bug me again, if you need help!  :D

Careful here - you might just get what you ask for: here's another one: I created a lot that included a standard SC4 House set all the way to the back so it fits partially under the highway. Then I used LeProp to classify it as R$$. Is that enough to have folks move in? And how do I stop it (in the Reader I guess) from developing?

Thanks for all your help to an old SC addict..

Hmm, I'm not quite sure about that. I have no idea on how the LEProp handles growables/plopables.

No, LeProp won't. I just use that as an intermediate step in order not to have to HEX around later. It would have to be SC4 Tool or the Reader that does it - I think. But in-game my lots always show up as park lots - wrong query, methinks..

Use the original file, ( ie not datpacked ) or else if you want to share your creation, you won't be able to find the dependencies

and Res plopable don't work, either do a pure landmark or a pure growable
