Relevant tech-specs: Windows XP, SP2, ZoneAlarm Security Suite.

This issue just popped up for me today when I went to download something. I attempted to extract the zipped file, but received an "access denied" message (preventing me from running the auto-installer) and a ZoneAlarm Security Suite scan result which showed the file as containing a "not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.EShoper.ba" virus. This was strange, but I deleted the virus in question. I then opened the folder manually, and upon running the auto-installer received the same error message and scan result. The read-me file (Adobe Acrobat) checked out fine.

I downloaded several other files with auto-installers and got the same virus alert, so I know it's not specific to one lot. In addition, lots without auto-installers work fine.

Is this a legitimate issue with the virus or just something that ZoneAlarm is screwing up? If it's harmless any ideas on how to bypass the denied access error?

Thanks.

It sounds as though this is a false report of the same type that AVG reports from time to time. I have just downloaded and installed fro the LEX with no virus reports - I use AVG Security Suite.
I have no idea how to circumvent the denied access error but it may be worth contacting ZoneAlarm to tell them your problem. They should sort it out in an early update.

Yeah...I didn't think it was an issue. I just shut off ZoneAlarm (after disconnecting from the internet, of course ;)) and it installed fine.

Please do let ZoneAlarm though as they should update to solve your problem. This is what AVG do.
