Insane graphics problem...

Would anyone like to tell what in the blazes caused this? I was in the middle of putting together my next MD update, when bam, the whole game freezes and lurches then random images start showing up and the whole thing looks like some small child's drawing. It happens now every time I open my city within a couple of seconds...between the game running fine and this disaster I didn't install any new plugins.

Edit: I'm running Windows XP with an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card. After shutting down my computer, it's running fine again. However, I'd like to prevent this in the future.

Have you  modified any core files of the game? how about reinstall your game?

(make a backup of your plugins first)

No I haven't touched any of the game files...

I shut down my computer, booted SC4 back up and the problem hasn't occurred again. I'd just like to avoid this happening again.

Good to know, sometimes similar problem happens to me (the game turns purple) but that happens when youre using another graphics program like gmax or other application...

Yes it looks like the graphic card is used by soemthing else and SC4 is not aware of it ( or handled it badly ).
Did you try running it again ?

You can also try to check if it happen in software mode after a reboot
