No CAMelots on my mac version of Sim City 4 Deluxe.

Sorry to interrupt, but there is a problem with my game of Sim city 4 deluxe mac edition. There are no CAMelots in my game. I installed the Colossus Addon mod, but when I start the game, there are no CAMelots in my game. I've installed the mac version of CAM, but nothing came out. Then, I installed CAMelots into my game, and I put it into my plugins folder, but I can't seem to get the CAMelots working. Could somebody help me?

To verify whether you've installed CAM correctly, check the demand graph in the game.
Does the vertical scale extend to +24,000 or is it still down at +6,000 ?

How large is your region?
You need to have a rather big region before the first CAMeLots appear.

The first CAMeLots would probably appear among industries,
but you won't necessarily notice that they are CAMeLots.

Residential and commercial (stage 9 and above) CAMeLots appear a lot later.
If you want a thorough analysis, please show us a report from the Census Repository in your city.

My region is about 324,000 residential people, and yes, the demand bar graph shows a maximum of +24000.

My biggest city is around 284,000 people and 369,000 commercial jobs.

I'm afraid I can't show you a census repository of the city because I don't have an image website.

With such a regional capacity, you should already be getting some residential CAMeLots:


10%
stage 9
6%
stage 10
1%
stage 11

You could always use the CAMeLot Counter to see how many you've already got. ;)

As you can see, this city has about 270,000 people and 393,000 jobs in my (i said region size of 324,000 people earlier) 824,000 people. That is a good sized region, but I don't get CAMelots. What is going on?

This image is a pic of a city that should be getting CAMelots, but doesn't have any.

I saw several instances of Maxis CAMeLots in the picture you initially posted (without the Census Repository Facility's query on top),
e.g. the stage 9 Quigley Place and the stage 10 Byall Tower.

Even on this narrow view of your city, there are several towers that certainly are CAMeLots.
There are numerous towers being taller than the in-game Reamon Plaza, which is a stage 8 CO§§§.

Is there a particular CAMeLot that you would like to see growing,
or have I completely misunderstood what you were asking for?

As you can se. The second picture says that I Have 1 CAMelot. That is it. No commercial CAMelots and these tall towers are just towers I downloaded from the STEX from simtropolis.

Example:

Frank and Archai Tower (Not a CAMelot)

I would like to see all the CAMelots from all cities, not just one.

P.S These towers are supposed to be CAMelots, but they are actually towers I just downloaded from the STEX.

If you have kept the original lot files from the STEX then these lots will have grown at the stage they were originally set at - i.ie. no more than stage 8. When you install the CAMelots you need to only keep the model files for the original STEX items.
I suggest you read the pinned thread CAMelots - linking all available lots and BATs and check your plugins either manually or by using the Cleanitol files available.

Also, my CAMelots used to work when I had the windows version of Sim city 4 deluxe, but they don't work in macs.

I can't just keep the model files. The model files, desc files and lot files are important. If I leave the model files alone and take the rest of the files into the trash, there will be boxes where my buildings used to be.

If the Frank and Archai Tower II grew without being a stage 9 CAMeLot, available in the starter pack CAM Commercial Offices BSC, then you have left the original stage 8 lot by NDEX in your plugins folder.

Sorry to wake up a sleeping thread, but I've uploaded 2 pictures of my "Lack of CAMelot" Cities.



As you can see from the above picture, I haven't gotten ANY CAMelots from my cities, even when my residential capacity was 630,000 and almost 830,000 for my commercial capacity.

Now for my region view.



Region has approximately 300,000 people.

Isn't there a way to fix the issue?

Have you also installed the latest version of BSC Essentials?
BSC Essentials is required by any BSC query that counts the number of certain buildings in the game.

You should really remove all old (inCAMpatible) stage 8 lots that you've downloaded from STEX.
Those skyscrapers usually have a rather high occupancy, which in CAM would give them a growth stage of 11 or higher.

Whenever a building upgrades (is being replaced) in the game, the new one has to be of a higher growth stage and have a higher occupancy per tile than the building being replaced.
Thus, most old (inCAMpatible) skyscrapers won't upgrade until your region has become large enough to support stage 12 or higher.

With CAM, and the higher maximum demand levels it provides, those old skyscrapers do grow a lot easier as well.
And if the demand is high, the game prefers to build a lower stage building with higher occupancy than a higher stage building with lower occupancy.

I removed all the lot, desc and unessential files from my plugins folder. Now what? There's no tall buildings in my city. and what's WORSE is that there's no Camelots in the city.

Have you checked that you're not using any inCAMpatible mods?
There is a file called CAM_Cleanitol.txt that lists all inCAMpatible mods.
Even if you cannot use Cleanitol, you can still open it and search your plugins folder for all files listed in there.

Do especially check if you've got any of the following files:


  • officestagecaps.dat
  • residentialstagecaps.dat
  • comcap.dat
  • rescap.dat
  • desire_override.dat

In addition to those files, can you also check that you haven't got a folder called RCImulti (with several mods made by Nilo)?
