Maxis Textures

I admit, I don't have nearly the custom content some of you guys do in my cities. I had a pretty nasty virus(twice!) that could only be cured by doing a complete system restore...anyway, while trying to rebuild my plugins folder, something got jumbled up. A lot... in fact, most, of the Maxis lots are missing textures. IE, on a Residential lot, you'll see simply a house. The surrounding area is almost transparent. My parks are all either a stone texture or grass.

Short of trying to go through every plugin, one at a time, or deleting the entire folder and starting from scratch, is there an easy fix?

Yeah, reinstall the Game.  No really, not being smart, but it sounds like your main game files are corrupted.  The chances of it being caused by a plugin are slim if it's messing with maxis textures.  Good way to check is to remove all your plugins to another folder and run the game.  If it's still like that then you need to reinstall.

mmm... Thanks... lol.. I moved every plugin to a temp folder, and I still have buildings with no surroundings. Luckily it's my day off work, right?

Check your graphics settings. When you apply the Official Patches, they are reset to Low.

so, i did a total reinstall...and one by one reinstalled the plugins, and the same problems. i also double-checked the detail level/graphics settings and everything is maxed out...

i guess it's time to figure out which texture pack is messing it up... thanks guys.

Wait... is this a city that was developed before you redid your plugins?  If so it's probably a custom lot that you don't have installed anymore.  A pic would really help.

Ctrl+Shift+S will take one.

If you start from scratch and play without any plugins do you get this problem?

I redownloaded and reinstalled the walking snake textures, now everything is fine... weird.
