i downloaded a canal set made by simgoober but what exactly are they for ? can boats ride in them ? or are they just for looks ?

At the moment, they are just eye candy, but daeley and the NAM Team recently developed special canal puzzle pieces, so you will be able to actually use them as functional canals soon. :)
