Hello Everyone,

I apologize if this is in the wrong thread but from what I could see here, it looks like it's in the right spot.

A long time ago I made the mistake of downloading way too many custom objects and installing them without checking 100% for dependancies or what not.  I know much better now but now that I have started to play simcity4 again and as I build my cities I find several objects in the menu that I don't like or which won't work properly, etc...the problem is that I have no idea where to find it in my plugins folder sometimes!  It makes it virtually impossible to find sometimes.  I could do the 1/2 method (is there another name for this) where I take out half of my plugins and keep repeating half of what is there until I can track down the object but with almost 1500 folders/objects, you can soon see that I'd have to reboot simcity and scroll through the appropriate menu many many times!

1500/2 = 750
750/2 = 375
375/2 = 188
189/2 = 94
94/2 = 47
47/2 = 23
23/2 = 12
12/2 = 6
6/2 = 3

If I get lucky and spot a name of a file, I might be able to skip a few of these steps but this is almost 10 reboots and there are several objects I wish to remove but can't track...

Would it be possible to create a mod where, while in Simcity 4, it will show you the path where the object being selected is installed once selected in the menu?  If this doesn't make sense, let me demonstrate with a simple example:

Let's say I select the transportation menu, then the locomotive and then hover over a fictional object: I'll call it abc train station.  Right now, if I click that object, it will show the description and the objects name (sometimes creators fail to do this which also makes it hard to track down).  If possible, this mod would show the path below where the object is installed (i.e. my documents/simcity4/plugins/arghyoufoundme/abc train station...) just under the description.

Such a mod would be so valuable as it would allow us to find problem files very quickly without doing the half method.  As we could know the exact file/path in question, it would be much look for the readme (since we know the objects name) which we could use to find missing plugins or what not.

What do you guys think?  Is it doable?  Difficult?  A silly idea?  It does not have to be fancy or anything, but man would this save me (and countless others) so much time and effort!  If I had the time and knew how to code, I'd love to take a shot at but it is beyond me unfortunately...

I think it's a brilliant idea, no idea if it's difficult, or even doable, but it's far from a silly idea.  Even being careful I still end up with the odd thing I don't want/like in there.  If anyone can do it, it'll be someone here.
