Hi, I used wouanagains DATpacker for some time now without problems but now I encountered a problem I cannot solve: when compressing my plugins folder, the DATpacker stops wit the follwing message:

That occurs with the same folder every time. I can compress all other folders in my plugins directory but not the one containing all the prop files. This folder is fairly big (2 GB). DATpacker starts to analyze the folder, than begins compressing and creates a "prop.dat" and a "prop-001.dat" in the "plugins_compressed" folder, but then the DATpacker stops with that error.

I have WIn XP with an Intel Core 2 with 2 GHz and 2 GB RAM.

Does anyone have an idea what to do?

Thanks!

It probably relates to the available memory for program use while you're doing the packing

Try simply breaking the folder into 2 folders with about half the props in each one.. I do that and put for example A-L in one and M-Z in the other. I've never had the out of memory problem, but usually (as noted in the support thread) you generally should limit it so that no folder is over about 750MB

This finally happened to me and always with my BSC folder. I broke the folder into BSC and BSC II.  Works fine now.

Thanks to all - split up my PROPS-folder into four, DATpacked without any problems

Yep, works great.. Only problem is that the maintenance of them becomes more difficult. Would be nice if teams providing updates would try to limit the file strucktures such that the folders are protected from becoming becoming prohibitively large.

Surely anyone who is willing to spend the time downloading over 750MB of custom content can also spend an extra moment or two in organizing it if need be...  ::)

On the other hand the generation of what is KNOWN to be likely to cause others problems and can be easily avoided doesn't set a good standard.. ;)
