Just when things were going nicely, we hear that the Rebel leaders have changed and that the Guv'nor wants military bases what next?

"Smythe, Don't they realise that if we build up our military , they build up theirs and things get tense for everyone.
Now I need a cuppa, go put the kettle on , there's a good lad, then come back I got some bits and pieces for you to do!"

I have been appointed as the new Separatist representative to your region, Derry.  Here's what I want to see:
1. Develop at least 50 new low- or medium-density residential zones in Tile I and provide all
necessary services.

It looks like you have some nice development going in central Tile I.  It would be good if you would keep it going
by expanding the development.  Let's see at least 50 new residential zones in Tile I.  They
can be any tile size and any wealth level, but make sure there are 50 of
them.  There shall be no high-density residential built at this time.  Provide police,
fire, education, and medical services as necessary
to cover the new neighborhoods.

2. Develop at least 15 new low- or medium-density commercial zones in Tile I.
New residents need services, so we would like to see at least 15 new commercial zones of any tile
size and any wealth level in Tile I
New high-density commercial zones are not allowed at this
time.
They should be covered by your police and fire departments.

3. Develop an industrial park in Tile M.
The proximity to the ocean, railroad, and edge of the region make this a prime location for industry.
Develop a good-sized industrial park with medium-density zoning in Tile M.  The
industry can be dirty, manufacturing, or high-tech, but new high-density industrial zones are not
allowed at this time.
Be sure to add police and fire stations as necessary to ensure that the industry is
covered.

4. Provide freight train access for the industry in Tile M.
If you don't build the new industrial park near the main railroad, you must build a railroad spur that connects to
the main railroad to provide access to the industry.  You must also build at least one freight rail
station
in the industrial park.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Now as for the Guv'nor's requests

You will have the right to reconnect ALL road and rail connections to the separatists, but with a control point
only.(incl. the rails which need a control point also) We want to see pictures of this.

Border control North & South Route 10

With the newly constructed Customs&Excise Building on Route 10

Border control North Route 10

5% Tax on all Dog Food and Coffee imported into the North. Mandatory wearing of muzzles and leashes for all dogs whilst

Concerning the Governor's orders, you (as the Mayors) will now build an armybase, small to medium navy
harbour and an airstrip for the airforce.
You have free choices where and how to plop them. Whether you use
existing lots or create a combination of several other plops/lots as long as they look like that it is occupied by our
soldiers. This is to intimidate the rebels and make them change their minds soon. Show them that you know a
way to stop the rebellion very easily and quickly and that you mean business!. You can build
them on one or several tiles, but the location of each base will be hardly judged. Remember, this is supposed to
intimidate the separatists to give up their demands. The better the military bases are situated, the better the
points. We want to see if you're convincing with your intimidation's. Governor Freddy Bison is giving you full budget
and total approval
concerning these military installations.

We also would like to see 1 picture in view 2 or 3 of your most beautiful and scenic rail settings,
whether it is in the city, town or village, a station or with simply stunning rural environment.

6.   1 picture in regionview (complete) in transportationview without any photoshopping
and taken ingame so we can see the population etc. No mayor names nor the tile lines showing. Make sure to
identify YOUR part of the region and the part of the separatists with only these words (Mayor/ Rebels) on the
picture and no lines (we know where the borderlines are). Please take this picture after you have done all the rest
of this challenge.

We request that you begin planning for expansion in tile H.

Please construct as per the attached pic. ( NO high density in any zones)
Medium density for commercial may be used but only up to 7 tiles from the water including

roads/streets

you have free rein as to how this is accomplished.

Please provide all facilities as needed.
Healthcare and Education are vital and every residence should be covered.

The public park area must be accessible from both sides of the river. How you accomplish this is up to you.

(No flashy residence for the mayor  $%Grinno$% something humble would be nice ;)
This does not apply to the townhall if you decide to build one.)

If you have any other concerns, feel free to contact my office.

We have noted your concerns regarding the transport problem in Tile E  and would request
a traffic volume and congestion pics at your convenience. We shall then get back to you with our proposals.

Nice tea by the way

Thank you Matt.

The congested transport system is in need of an overhaul but we don't want to burden you with too much

considering the
construction required in tile H.

Some sort of rapid public transport (El Train/Tram as a suggestion) is required and shall leave it to you as to

which sort is used.
Upgrade any street or construct any new roads/bridges if required but only as a last resort.

while the fences were built for protection,I really do not like having a "Death Zone" and require this area to be

redeveloped also.

Now as I said I really don't want to burden you so this area, once the fencing has been removed, can be used to

provide a high speed corridor which should alleviate the congestion. Plenty of green space and  lots of trees with

some judicious zoning (no industry but the rest is up to you) should see this area develop nicely. Provide all

services as required. Again this area you have free reign over.

Oh yes almost forgot please reconnect the rail line thank you.

re:your question for tile H
If you have the time then by all means build a nice riverside walk/park area as a feature of the commercial

district, if not leave this in a natural state but bear in mind it will be developed later.

Regards
Derry

This is my entry for challenge 5

I look forward to working with you and as far as I can see these seem pretty reasonable demands.
I shall now call on my alto egos town planners and set them to it.

Hey Derry! New Independence is looking good. The construction site great. And that construction site in the city of Meridian is a looker all right.

A good entry that will be tough to beat.

Cheers Folks

Pat : Thank you Sir, I needed that ()stsfd()

Jim: Glad you like how New-Independence turned out
Not as easy as it first seemed but with a little jiggery-pokerry and moving things about it all turned out pretty nice I think.

As for the building site cheers but thats all someone else's work and is just an unusual location/application of an existing lot.
I'll reveal more after the challenge

This Challenge was harder than I personally thought, I might even add a lot harder.

I'll not argue about that.

I have to concur. It took a lot more thought and preparation than at first glance ::)
Still it was fun but I'm glad that we had the length of time available that we did or I would have been hard pressed to get it done :D

Thank you. Actually your demands were the easiest part of the challenge.
Compared to the Guv'nor's demands ::) The military bases are not something I usually build so that to me was the hardest part of the challenge but I'm glad I got them done and on time too :D

This contest definitely has changed the way I look at and play the game. I'm glad I decided to enter

Judging Challenge 5

I finally got around to continue the GRV II Challenges and we will continue with the judgement of Challenge 5, 6 and 7 in the next weeks. Make also sure to read the *speach* that I wrote in the General discussion thread, maybe giving an explanation to all this delay.
How this challenge was judged can be found in the Challenge 5 thread. Please read it so you can judge my Challenge 5 also.

This challenge wasn't any easier than the one before to judge, because we had to look at many different points and from different views. Thank You.
1. Your checkpoints are well re-connected and excellently controllable, no other than the max points of 4 were added.
2. The orders you gave to your adversary were very well and we gave you 3 points for this.
3. The way you executed the orders you received from your rebels are excellent and no other than 4 points were give. Real nice job with a lot of effort.
4. I don't know if it is impressive enough to intimidate your adversary with your amrybases, but you surely did an excellent job in placing them, choosing the custom lots, explaining and organizing the whole. The airbase couldn't be better. We could not give you lower than a perfect score, 4 points.
5. Being scenic this is alright and another well earned 4 points were added.
A Bonus point was given for being ontime.

You have earned a total of 20 points in this challenge, an almost perfect score. This is how we pay off effort and talent. Congratulations!

Lynn and Fred
