Congratulations with your birthday!!  :party:

Hope you had a great day. Your effort relotting everything is incredible (though the scarecrow is a bit out of place imho). The walls look great, too. Keep it up!  :thumbsup:

Interesting ideas here. What's that pond in your latest picture? A lot? A bat? Plopped?

Cheers

As you can see, the Barsoom Project is still going. I promised you more stuff and here we are, future farms! Before we see the pictures, let me explain the philosophy behind the lots. I'll be honest and feel free to hate me. I don't like the classic farms!

Why? They waste too much land, too much water, too much time and too much natural resources, in order to produce low quantity and quality food, usually full of pesticides which are dangerous for the environment and the public health. The farms of the future however will be safer, cleaner and more efficient. How? With the wise use of superior technology.

So how the farms will be in the future? All farms will use robots for almost all activities. An artificial intelligence will monitor the farms and warn the "farmers" for any situation. Most plants will grown in indoor environments, which will be perfectly adjustable for the plants needs. The plants will be also protected by bad weather and pests, thanks to the enclosed environments. Here and there in the agricultural zones, laboratories will research new methods to upgrade the quantity and quality of food, speeding up the production, without requiring too much needs and without bringing problems to the environment and the public health.

The farms of the future will be scientific, not romantic. And I love it. So hate me ()lurker()

Let's go now to the ex Maxis lots. All lots now upgraded from romantic farms, to sophisticated factory "farms". I used all SimMars buildings (including some unused) and I also made some extra lots for more variety. From 24 lots, to 53 lots. No more boring repetition. Here we can see all stage 1 farms...

Time for the stage 2 farms...

And finally the stage 3 farms. Notice something? All the ugly Pedriana farms replaced by the elegant Martian Farms. Something tells me that the Barsoom Project will be not compatible with C.A.M. &mmm

Ahh, the beautiful future. Nanotechnology, genetic engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computers, laboratories, smart use of topic conditions (including domes and skyfarms) and exotic technologies. But what about products made by animals and not by plants, like eggs and meat? Livestocks will still exist in the future. This time however will be fewer, cleaner and more efficient, without killing too much animals. With cloning technology, it will be possible for a cow to produce as meat as 10 cows. All you need is to take a small piece of meat and use the cloning technology to turn it into steaks, beef and anything else you want. It could be also possible with genetics, to turn plants into meat. Steak from corn! ;D

Having this in my mind, I made 3 livestocks for Simcity. They'll use llamas, horses, cows, chickens for...

llamas --> meat, wool, milk
horses --> meat, genetic mutated transportation
cows --> meat, milk
chickens --> meat, eggs

So here we are. Technological farms. Hate me ()lurker()

oh gosh terring.. how could u annoy me like that.. thats so awesome mods..

please release barsoom part 2 soon.. i couldnt wait..

Terring7

The mod is very far from finished. There are hundreds of lots I need to relot and this is a truly pain to my neck. For now I can only release the farms and the dirty industries, but I will not. I prefer to upload all lots at once in a mega pack, not just a set every time. I also have many things to do in my life, like learning driving and finding a job. Finding a job here in Greece is more difficult than visiting Mars &mmm
And I just also don't want to spend all my time above this mod /wrrd%&

Somehow I don't like the "industrial" farms.They look more like hi-tech industries to me.

Terring7

All lots are inspired by truly concepts about the future, like skyfarms and underground homes. We're talking about the future, so what did you expect? Buildings of 1950s in the 2950s? ;) ;)

Flatron

The thing is, that there's a trend towards organic products and that we have to keep the architectural past. SciFi only creates antisocial things like that strange and dangerous sect that was founded by Lafayette schwHubbert

Terring7

I'm not against organic products or having some older buildings still stand up. Relics from the past will always give a character in the cities, even in the distant future, unless if we're talking about cities made by scratch with no touch of history. Athens will still have Parthenon, Paris will still have Eiffel Tower and New Υork will still have the Statue of Liberty, even after 10,000 years (unless if for any reason moved or destroyed). But to be honest, stuck in the past is very boring! We're living in a society with futuristic technologies and with prehistoric theories. The whole civilization is full of old believes that doesn't make any sense anymore, because the human race is evolving, the nature is evolving, everything are evolving. Sure it's vital to learn our history and to not repeat our mistakes. But if something is too old and inefficient, upgrade it or trash it. The past can be useful, but too much of it is boring and even dangerous. This is why I love science fiction, because is anarchic and liberate both mind and soul. So... let's be a little wild ;)

Those days I'm working on reloting the rest of Maxis rewards. Here are 3 of them, more are coming soon. The missile range is fully upgraded. This time it can manufacture missiles and use them to test new technologies, including better engines and aerodynamic shapes. Because those missiles are experimental, misfires can happen which can hit your city and destroy several buildings.

Nothing impressive for the television studio, just rotating the building to connect the garage to the road system.

Remember the chemical waste disposal plant from Simcity 3000? It's back! Thanks to nanotechnology, dangerous elements doesn't go to toxic waste dump anymore, but they recycled into new products and chemicals... like never moldy bread and toothpaste that taste chicken. But make sure that your Sims will not find it, you don't want them to discover that their favourite hamburger was actually a heavy treated nuclear waste ;D

But to be honest however, I'm even more proud with the cruise ship port. I never liked the classic one, so I was thinking about turn it into a multiport, a mix of seaport and spaceport. Something like this...

But after playing around with the props, the result was this...

Now I'm looking for seaport props to make the lot more realistic. Any suggestion? ()what()

Great work on those lots. :thumbsup:
For the golf court I would've used other trees than the Maxis ones. There is something wrong with the shadows as you might see. For the seaport props, the first that came in my mind were Jestarr Megaprops Vol1 and Jestarr Megaprops Vol2, but I'm sure there are many others around on the exchanges. I think four stairs for the cruise ship is a bit too much. Perhaps two would be enough.

LordCarbuncle

Holy shnozola!  :P The passenger ship port is very very good! &apls
Anyways I like the disposal facility or what ever it is. It looks good in my HI tech industry zones! About the industrial farms I think that general progress has been more industrialization of agriculture. The farms now look more like factories then they did 100 years ago. And where can I get the future walls set?

And just who am I anyways? Recognize me?
