Map of the Dutch Columbian States

Info

Dutch Columbia (Dutch: Nederlands Columbia; Danish: hollandske Columbia) officially the Kingdom of Dutch Columbia (Dutch: Koninkrijk Nederlands Columbia; Danish: Kongeriget hollandske Columbia) is a Dutch and Danish speaking Federal Constitutional Monarchy consisting of 8 states and 1 federal territory with Noorderstad, District of Hollandia as the seat of the federal authorities. The country is located in North America in the region known as the Pacific Northwest. Dutch Columbia is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on all sides.

The country is very culturally diverse, with many Dutch influences along with Danish and English influences. Dutch Columbia is often referred to as "A bit of Europe in North America" because its liberal policies and similarities to European culture and city planning, especially in Noorderstad. The country has three official languages, they being Dutch, Danish, and English but many more are spoken such as French, German along with various Asian languages. Many Dutch customs have been adopted in Dutch Columbia such as windmills, tulips, bicycles and social tolerance. Danish customs have also been brought into Dutch Columbia by the many Danish immigrants in the mid-1800's. These customs include "hygge" which has no real English translation but is the absence of anything annoying, irritating, or emotionally overwhelming, and the presence of and pleasure from comforting, gentle, and soothing things, Danish design and architecture, and the Danish Christmas (Jul, or Yule) which has had its own modifications to fit to Dutch Columbian society.

Good to see you here, Clint. Havn't seen much new work from Dutch Columbia on the forums, and an excellent start you've given us!

You are certainly starting out in the most spectacular way. I really enjoyed reading your introduction to Dutch Columbia, I can't help myself thinking you must have some kind of connection to either Denmark or Holland?
The graphics work looks excellent and your first images are equally well done.

A very nice start Clint.
I like the way you photoshopped in the flags into the map, awesome idea.  The city looks great and the brief bit about the history too.

The urban park area near the river/sea is stunnning. Reminds me abit of Abu Dhabi and the way theyve set things up over there.

Overall, this is as good a start as one can ask for :)

Looking good so far, although the station looks a bit like the one from (old) Amsterdam.

on a side note: "kingdom of Dutch Columbia" translates to "Koninkrijk Nederlands Columbia", the "van" is not necessary here (nitpicking, I know :P)

Also, I'm not sure if you know, but New York was originally named New Amsterdam.
RIP Adrian (adroman), you were a great friend

Thanks! Yeah I kinda wanted to have some Dutch architecture incorporated into the city. Thanks for the help on the translation, I've heard different ones and I'm not sure which one is right haha. Yes I do know that New York was once New Amsterdam and that's where I got the name. :)

ecoba

I really like the way you present New Amsterdam, Clint. It really does end up giving us a wonderful effect. The picture of the boulevard by the canal is also wonderfully beautiful.

Nice start to your MD! I like your downtown and the canal drive.

I'm sorry to nitpick as well - Ducth Columbia would translate into Hollandsk Columbia (without the e) and likewise Kingdom of Dutch Columbia would be Kongeriget Hollandsk Columbia.
I'm looking forward to hygge  ;)

WOW at those night shots, especially the mosaic. Truly stunning!

For the very first picture, is that a picture of a real life city or something you created? If you did create it, how did you do it?

Again, the mosaic, just stunning.
