We traveled from Kristiansand through Stavanger and Bergen to the Geiranger Fjord, then returned to Kristiansand along RV13 and RV9.

Long time no see this thread -- many apologies for the Kristiansand weather back then though, summer didn't arrive before the last week of July! And, naturally, congrats on you Santa Barbara, again!

bat

Great shopping centre there!
Looking forward to more great pictures...

dedgren

You've captured that SoCal ambience, Rick. Really, really nice work.

I've been wondering if you would use that train skin. I know it's not an exact re-creation of Santa Barbara, but that is a nice touch to see. Still always tough to see high rises in Montecito, but I like the way your cities are fleshing out. Plenty of space, room to grow, and plenty of parking too; that last one is something that seems to go overlooked many times. You're also putting those TLA's to good use. Those turning medians are a common sight in this area.

Fantastic update there, I love the suburbs and how they have sprung up around your highways, the planting is great and the office parks with rail stations is a good touch.

Very Realistic!!

Skimbo

I know, I'm a bit late, but still: Great update :D

I feel bad for updating so slowly. I blame it on this nasty little thing called Real Life. Sorry.  %wrd

Today we continue our trip to Montecito.

38.1

A large motel near the US-101 exit.

38.2

Suburbia.

38.3

Suburban housing projects.

38.4

Even more suburbia.

38.5

The Retail Traders Association is located in this mansion, surrounded by parkland.

38.6

Montecito State Hospital

38.7

Civic buildings and a private school on the other side of the road.

38.8

An old cemetary where some local personalities are buried.

38.9

Montecito has several office parks. Land prices are much lower here than in downtown. This building offers affordable and modern offices for start-up businesses.

38.10

Montecito North Metro Station. Served by SBlink.

38.11

There are still some level crossings even on main roads.

38.12

This switch belongs to the rail wye where the main line splits into Santa Barbara Local and Santa Barbara Bypass.

38.13

I wonder who came up with this weird intersection.

38.14

Development north of the rail line did not continue after the contractor went out of business in 2009 due to the housing crisis.

QuoteHey RickD, long time lurker, first time poster.
Nice hearing from you. Glad you like it. :)

QuoteOne friendly critique: Won't the avenue next to the SBlink station in South Montecito suffer from the same problem as the one in Santa Barbara did?
It certainly does. Sooner or later this needs to be improved.

No need to apologize. The weather in Norway was actually better than what we had here for most of summer.  ::)
