Last night was a huge success, the concert was excellent, the fireworks were magnificent, I real sight to behold! I got two good pictures of them!

Thanks for being a part of this year's union Day celebrations guys!

bat

A wonderful newspaper, Muzz! Also great two pictures of that celebration!

Nice update, great work on the fireowrks.  I suck with photoshop, I guess I need to learn it one of these days.  I'm kind of lazy though....LOL

Excellent celebration, Muzz! And the newspaper front page was spectacular, too! Keep up the great work!

Ok, so it hasn't been long sicne I last updated, It was today actually, but I had to share with you today's work. Took me a good hour or so to do the Castle Hill area, a lot of plopping (I know it's bad, but I prefer the results!) and drawing out off-grid street plans. And by off-grid I mean they aren't all grid-iron, they are mostly 90 degrees, but at least the patterns are irregular, like a real non-American city.

We start with the High Street!

bat: Again?  :P Well thanks for the comment.
rooker1: Thanks, the effects aren't as good as some I've seen in Union Day updates, but I'm not sure thats PS, I think it's another one with a specific Fireworks creator. Either that or they know a trick I don't.  :P
patfirefghtr: Thanks, again!  ;D And thanks for continually checking in, I appreciate it.
thundercrack: Thanks, and same goes for you, thank you!

Great new pictures of that area, Muzz!

Great update Muzz as always. The mix of buildings is really, really well done.  :)

thundercrack83

High Street looks excellent, Muzz! I love the big city blocks. Great work, as always!

stewart_garden

I like the high street too Muzz.  I have never been too worried about those who use plopping to create a city ... I guess everyone has their own playing style and SC4 doesn't really have "rules" about how your city should develop ... keep doing what you are doing.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Hey, Muzz- Been a while since I commented in your great MD.  I agree with you about plopping- you can get great results using it, but it's not necessarily as satisfying as having the right thing grow when you've laid careful groundwork.

Calderwood continues to look fantastic.  I always enjoy a visit here.

Oh that BAT turned out nicely, I'm just going to caution you about huge expanses of ploped Paris buildings.

My holidays are almost over... But this year is less pressured, so updates will still be reasonably frequent. Plus, I got all the qualifications I need, so this year can be more relaxed. I got my exam results and I passed them all! I got the results I wanted, I'm really happy. Seems like that hiatus during the exam time was worth it!

In side news, New Haven Castle was voted one of the Seven Wonders of the SCJU!!! It's new status means it will receive special heritage protction, and no doubt a boost in tourists! Also, the Calderwood national football (soccer) team made it to the Semi-finals of the SCJU-URSC Sim Calcio. We were beaten by Domeston, who then went on to win the whole contest, and we beat Casanares in the 3rd/4th place playoff, taking 3rd place in the whole tournament.

Anyhoo, I bring you tidings of update.

(That's right, I stole this from eyecandy.  :P)

Now we see two of the new developments in New Haven, and how they will look when they are done. The left shows the current progress, the right the artist's impression of it.

patfirefghtr: Lol, thanks. I know it isn't that bad, but some people seem to frown upon it. And I think you made the right choice regarding the Union!
bat: Danke Schon, bat!  ;D
pip: Thanks, I try for an old city with urban regeneration underway kind of look, glad you like it.
thundercrack: Thanks, it's kind of a trick to use up more room I suppose, lol!
stewart: Thank you. I agree with you, everyone has their own style, it's just plopping seems to be the most forwned upon!
nova_vesalfo: Thank you, I was inspired by the High Street in Edinburgh, which is very similar.
yoder: Thanks!
dedgren: Thank you, I see what you mean about plopping, but I guess I'm just not patient enough for it!
yoman: Thanks, still one or two thigns I'm not content with though. Lol, you are the one I get the most stick about plopping from!  :P

Excellent work and photoshopping, the city on page 7 is very reminiscent of Dubai. I LOVE that news ticker effect on Page 7. Ingenious. I may have to steal that!

stewart_garden

I love the artists' impressions of the buildings.  Great update.
