The widening of the N269 at Tilburg is a fact. The section from the N15 to the N14 has been widened to 2x2 lanes, as part of the ring road Tilburg project.  The intersection whit the N14 is also completed. Before there was a temporary  traffic light crossing.
We start this update at the end of the N269, the intersection whit the N15.

Here begins the widened N269.

The new 2x2 tunnel is open for traffic, the old tunnel 2x1 tunnel is for local traffic and bikes.

The park and ride is also extended with additional parking spaces.

Then we approach the junction with the N14.

Between the two exits/ entries of the N269 are now 2x3 lanes available on the N14.

Besides these conversion on the N14 there is an other intersection changed. The intersection at Graven had also traffic lights as a temporary solution. Meanwhile, the final situation is ready.  It is become quite different than they intended. The business park that now lies between the connection would actually be completely demolished. The businesses have not to move the for the new intersection.

That's all for this update. In the next update we go to Vught and check the new A27 in the half-tunnel. Comments are always welcome!

The reconstruction of the A27 at Vught is completed. The A27 at Vught between the N263 and the A4 has been widened to 2x3 lanes. Because these extra lanes giving more problems to the environment. Has decided to build the A27 at Vught in a half-tunnel. A real tunnel is to expansive and with this solution we think that we found a good compromise. The reconstruction of the A27 has a lot of problems delivered. The old A27 had 2x2 lanes and was situated on the ground. During the renovation, there was only one lane in each direction available. This resultant in huge traffic jams in the region. Anyway, that's over now, the coming years there will be no traffic jams at the A27. The junction with the A4 is also fully rebuild and prepared for the future. But that see we in the next update.

We start at the intersection whit the N263, the stat of the widening.

Let take a closer look on the new tram-line at Vught.

Here comes the new line same whit the old tram-line of Vught and De Dieze.

And the new situation, the A27 and the N263 whit 2x3 lanes.

Next update we look at the junction whit the A4. Comments are always welcome!

Maybe you will show now bike roads network? Characteristic element of the Netherlands :D
Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

Jaris

I really like your highway network, especially the nice use of acel-/decellerationlanes.

However there's one thing I've noticed on which you could easily improve to make your highways even better looking.

Example:
The intersection whit the N262, before the junction whit the A4.
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/381/34749365.jpg

In the pic you've got 4  90-degree entrances/exits.
3 of them are created using a RHW6-D1 exit piece and a 90 degree MIS-curve.
The one on the top right however uses a fractional angel (RHW6-F1) exit and the corresponding FAMIS-curve
which in my opinion looks way better, and could eliminate some useless direction changes on your higways. And I think you could fit them pretty easily on most exits with the same issue.

It is to hard to make a whole network. In some places i have build bike bridges over the motorways, as by the A2 and the A13.

Renumber that the 90 degree MIS-curve is a new piece, and the region is very old. At the most places the new piece don't fit, to small places. But i will uses this piece more and more, as there be enough room.

A10 - Widening in a tunnel
Despite the cold weather it was an interesting week for the infrastructure in the Netherlands. The A10 is likely to be widening below ground. Although there is still debate about the project. The Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB), an independent government agency, called the A10 tunnel unprofitable in a second opinion analysis.

QuoteOut of nowhere, after years of dormancy, the A10-south project is suddenly revived with an agreement about the project by the ministry of Infrastructure and Environment and the city of Amsterdam.

The A10 on the south side of Amsterdam will be put underground, and widened from 6 to 12 lanes. The widening will be combined with real estate development and expansion of rail services from 12 to 24 trains per hour.

The A10 will feature 2+4+4+2 lanes, 2x4 through lanes and 2x2 lanes for local traffic, all underground. The project cost € 1.4 billion, out of which the national government pays € 979 million and the city of Amsterdam € 201 million. The urban region pays € 103 million and € 75 million comes from the North Holland province. That's € 280 million per kilometer.

Amsterdam is and will be the site of mega projects. Already in progress is the € 2 billion second Coen Tunnel + A5 skyway, and commencing this year is the € 4.5 billion Schiphol - Amsterdam - Almere upgrade. The Badhoevedorp realignment of A9 is expected to start in 2013, while the A10-south project will commence in 2015.

The A10 in New Holland will also likely to be widening below ground. On the roof of the new tunnel will be new real estate and more space for the rail tracks. And the central station will be expanded whit a new terminal for the HSR line. There HSR will get also a new link to the biggest city of the region De Dieze.

The A10 project will start after the complementation of the 30- bottlenecks program.

In this update we look at the reconstructed junction of the A27 with the A4. The A27 at Vught between the N263 and the A4 has been widened to 2x3 lanes, as we have see in the update whit the half-tunnel. The reconstructed junction is prepared for perhaps further widening projects.

We start this update at the A4 at the east side of Vught.

The intersection whit the N262 (on the viaduct). This ramp is integrate in the junction whit the A4 / A27.

The junction whit the A27. Here we see a connection curve to the A27. Under the ground level are two tunnels. For the direction Gestel A4, A27-Vught and vice versa.

The begin of the A27, the tunnels are preprepared for 2x3 lanes in each direction.

Here begin the half-tunnel at Vught.

Lets take a closer look at the junction.

The junction whit the A15 (connection to the N14 Bypass Tilburg). The DRIPP shows the current traffic information. Explain: Tilburg via the A15 / N14 Tilburg = 25 min + 10 min, or via the A4 / A10 = 15 min + 0 min.

The A15 connection to the N14 Bypass Tilburg.

The connection (exit ramp) to the A4 have now 2 lanes.

A4 widening Burgerveen-Leiden
The real Netherlands are also building at the A4, the motorway will be placed in a half-tunnel at Leiden. It is a really cool, and special project. The current 4-lane motorway will be replaced by a 6-lane motorway below grade. A narrow bridge will be replaced by a wide aquaduct. The current roadways are 8.50 meters wide. The future roadways are 27.50 meters wide, allowing 2x6 lanes with shoulders.

There will construct two tunnels, one for each direction whit 2x6 lanes. The first tunnel and aqaduct are opening soon, after this opening that can removed the old A4 above ground level. You can see the old (left above), and the first new part of the A4 at this picture.

Note, this is one of two aquaducts, this one will open to six-lane traffic in a few weeks, after which an identical aquaduct will be constructed next to it. This means the A4 will be over 3 times wider than it is today.

Reconstruction junction Delfland (A4, A7 and A11)
Today it is renovated junction of the A4, A7 and the A11 officially opened. A few years ago is the junction build in the context of the construction of the A11. The A11 has built as bypass of the village Delfland, formerly ran the old N11 through the village. The diversion of the N11 was for the village an opportunity for a significantly expanding project. This project now almost complete. The village is grown and that creates problems on the motorways. The junction whit the A4, A7 and the A11 is rebuild whit a new pre-bender compound curve. The project cost 65 million euros, and give the junction enough capacity for the coming years.

Let's start with the photos, the exit Delfland on the A11 from Germany.

The exit Delfland N261 itself, and the exit to the new pre-bender compound curve.

The A7 above the tunnel, and the A11 under the tunnel. At the right you see the pre-bender compound curve.

Here we see the old compound curve, this has replaced by the pre-bender. The old curve was very small, and has only 1 lane.

Overview of the new situation at the junction.

Now we go see the village Delfland in more detail. From the intersection whit the A11, we come on a small ring-road the N261 of the village.

On place of the canals an the park was before the N11, a 2x2 motorway whit traffic lights.

Here one old picture of the village whit the N11.

Back to the ring-road the N261 at the industrial area.

The N261 goes to De Dieze.

That's it, comments are always welcome!

Impressive and realistic interchanges. No details are forgotten.
Besides, your city's pictures are really nice, especially the industrial area.
Excellent work.

Every time when I think your traffic networks can't get any more complicated, you come with a new update.  $%Grinno$%

By the way, I am impressed by all those great road and rail improvements in the Netherlands. I wish our government would make such improvements instead of cutting budgets and use the money to fill in other budget holes. Our road network is in decline.
My parents live in a small village. In a few years I will have to rent an off-road vehicle to visit them.  ::)

Thanks for the responses. And Rick, I've never experienced that when I was in Germany I thought that you had also good maintenance (or only at motorways and big city's ;) ). I'm really jealous of your speed on motorways, no where else in the world are you allowed to drive as fast as on the German autobahn!

At this moment the Netherlands has actually unwise many projects under construction and planned, widening and few new motorways. This was necessary, the road construction program has been located for years by procedures and politics, that would not add capacity on the network. Which is fortunately changed at 2007-20110 (by minister Eurlings and his Bottlenecks program (my region has that program also $%Grinno$% ). You can that reflected in the statistics, traffic jams are reduced by 27% at 2011 (relative to the average file gravity of the last five years).

I expect that the congestion drops down in the coming years. Perhaps no-traffic jams at my commute route. Would be nice.

Good now a picture of my latest work. The new junction with the A7 and A2. In the next update we take a closer look on this new part of the A2 and A7.

Today it's time for a big update! The works on the A7 corridor have been completed. The A7 is widened from 4 lanes to at least 8 lanes at the north side of De Dieze. The A7 starts at junction Delfland, we have seen that junction in the previous update and continues to Germany. During the conversion of the A7 is the HSR connection to Germany in structural work constructed. This is a part of the new HSR link from Tilburg to De Dieze and Germany. The whole link from the A7 at De Dieze to Tilburg must still be built, the construction start next month and will be finished in 6 years.

The widening of the A7 was an expensive job. The most expensive parts were the aqaduct for the Pannerdensch Kanaal, and the bridges over the river the Waal.

The aqaduct off the Pannerdensch Kanaal.

The rail crossing, the HSR viaduct is not finished yet.

Very nice update.
Lots of intersections, which btw, I come and check out very often for my own use.
I like this last bridge you have shown, it is perfectly placed on the river....job well done!!

In this update we look to the last part of the widening of the A2 to 2x3 lanes. The whole A2 had now minimal 2x3 lanes. We start this update by the junction whit the A7, of the last update.

The widening was expensive. Besides the extra space for the new lane, we also need to demolish houses for the new noise barriers.
