Seine - Nord Europe Canal

Today we look at the greatest inland waterways project of Europe from the 21st century. The 105-kilometre-long canal will connect the Seine and Scheldt rivers and facilitate the transport of goods through inland waterways. When the new Seine Nord connection is ready, it will allow large vessels to transport goods between the Seine river (and the Paris area) and the ports of Dunkerque, Antwerp, and Rotterdam, or further into Europe. Concretely this means for New Holland that there is made ​​a completely new channel from the port of Boschelona. The canal runs parallel to the N282. The N282 is a major north-south connection. See the maps below:




Here begins the new channel. The small port transshipment is also new.






The A1 crosses over the new channel, this small crossover will soon replace one a viaduct with 2x3 lanes

Seine - Nord Europe Canal

Today we look at Part 2 of the new channel. The part that we see today is Parallel to the N282. We start with the N282 and the connection to the A5.




The railway line here turns away from the canal.


The N282 is a busy road. The procedures were started for the road could be converted to 2x2 lanes.








Here begins the busiest part of the N282, this excludes the important road from Nieuw Vennep on.








Connecting roads to Nieuw Vennep. The conversion of this route will start soon. This is included in the project where the N264 is also a new connection is made on the A4.

Seine - Nord Europe Canal

Today we look at Part 3 of the new channel. This section is located in the towns Ressen and Graven. De N282 is also Parallel to the canal in this area.

De N282 is a very busy road to has daily massive traffic jams. De traffic flow is bad to many small accidents happen on many dangerous intersections to roundabouts. There is a plan for the road section between Nieuw Vennep Ressen to expand into a 2x2 motorway.






De connection with the A12 is busy but does not cause problems. When the N282 is built to connect the 2x2 will also be changed.


Here we see the A12 on the new bridge over the canal. The entire A12 was built with area reservation.




After the junction with the A12 is the N282 a quiet road.


De southern bypass of the town Craven.

De northern bypass of the town Craven. This road has also a aqaduct under the new channel.




De new N282 crosses the line from Vlissingen to De Dieze to Gestel.


De railway has also a new viaduct over the canal. There is also a viaduct built for the many agricultural traffic on this route.

Today we look at the village Ressen along the A12. Formerly a small village at recent years, many new houses built in the village.

On the edge of the office park is the railway.


The second connection Ressen on the A12.


From the highway, you enter the village at this way.


The village is a mix of new and old. In the 80's and 90's many new buildings built in the village.






The bypass to the N282. The intersections on this road are very dangerous because it is a very busy road.


The railway line has a tapping direction industry.

Wow great job! Very realistic!   If i had my own company, I would definitly consider to build my office in Ressen. Next to the highway, close to a railway and big(ger) cities, but in the middle of a green area!
