Rural Renewal Project - components not working

Hello to all. Since the RRP thread is locked, I am hoping this is the place to ask a question. That thread's sticky indicates five components to RRP: Draggable paths, pasture flora, ploppable rocks, RRP fences, and rural culverts. I downloaded and installed all of these, and updated my DAMN. Problem is: only the fences and culverts actually work. The other three, though I can select them in DAMN, cannot be placed or dragged; I have a red cursor.

I tried removing one component (pasture flora), removing both the files and the DAMN entries. I re-installed the files and into the DAMN, but to no avail. I then removed it again, but did not place in DAMN, hoping they'd show up in Misc Trans or Parks (or wherever). Pasture flora were nowhere to be found.

For those three components which are non-functional (draggable paths, pasture flora, and ploppable rocks), in DAMN they have values like "monthly cost: -1" and "bulldoze cost: -1". The other components which are functional (culverts and fences) show normal values such as "bulldoze cost: 10". I even checked to see if I had old files, but they are the "latest and greatest".  (i.e. not beta versions or whatnot) I used the SC4Tool to glance at the .dat files (e.g. bluebonnets), which show positive plop costs; I could not find any monthly budget costs, however.

So I'm confused. Chrisadams3997 (the creator) said there were no dependency on having jeroni's original rock files ("it does not require the original Jeronij files"), but certainly something appears to be missing for me.

Any help would be great.

The draggable paths, pasture flora, and ploppable rocks are in the mayor menu the same place you can raise, level or lower the ground, from memory they should all be in the tree? menu, and not sure with those items that you can DAMN them.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did look for them under the Trees menu, but I will remove from DAMN, then see what can be seen...

gecko001

I removed them from the DAMN, but none of them appear in any game menu (e.g. Trees menu). I can only figure that some other plugin is somehow suppressing the three (draggable paths, pasture flora, and ploppable rocks). Hmm. Do they all share some commonality? From my reading of the (now-defunct) RRP thread, aren't they all based on the same file, some ploppable flora model or method? I am obviously NOT knowledgeable about these behind-the-scenes things. :-(
Not knowing what the source of the problem is will make this difficult. I can only think to move half my plugins directory out and see if they appear, then half of the remaining half of the plugins, etc. Not sure how else to approach 'debugging' the problem...

That is really the only way to do it, although there is nothing that conflicts with them as far as I know.

They work on my computer alone in plugins.  They are not based on the same file.  They all have their own model and .dat.  For instance, the drag-able path folder has 12 files in it, 6 models and six .dats.  You should be able to use one/some/all of them.

Lowkee33 - I, also, can see no other way to go about this. And you're right: I searched for but did not find any reports of conflicts or whatnot. Guess I'm special :-(
If I ever figure out what is causing the suppression or conflict, I'll post it.

Eureka! I figured it out, thanks to your help. Before I got too far into removing plugins, I remembered one of Catty's remarks ("...not sure with those items that you can DAMN them").  I use DAMN all the time -- it is a fantastic tool -- and had DAMNd all the components after installing them and BEFORE firing up SC4. It is true that most of the RRP components do not work from within the DAMN interface. (Only culverts and the fences work within DAMN.)

But then I remembered: when you remove stuff from DAMN, it still leaves the referenced .dats in the zzz_DAMN_remove folder.
See? The RRP components failed to appear in the game menus because DAMN was suppressing them! I deleted the appropriate .dats from the DAMN_remove folder and voila! they appeared in the game menus.
Mystery solved! Thank you again!
