It's Assumption of Mary today, the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her life. While I'm an atheist, let me wish you to have your gods and angels next to you and help you in anything you wish :)
By the way, I never liked the term "update". So let's change it ;)

Reikhardt: Thanks :)

bat: Thank you :)

ricardomiranda: Thanks :)

Page 32: Strangers in a strange land

"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known."
Carl Sagan

Planet Mars is a world blessed and cursed. It was a second Earth billions of years ago, rich with water, plants and animals. It was also the cradle of the native Martians, an ancient and mostly mysterious civilization. The green glory of Mars was finally passed away. Today, Mars is a mostly dead planet, a planetary cold desert. There is no ozone layer, neither water. But this planet is rich with exotic formations, canyons, mountains, craters, volcanoes, surface ice and dry rivers.

Mars was an Earth-like green planet. Today it's a red desert, where only a few native plants and animals can survive. We don't know how they evolved so radically..

Here and there we discovered ruins of ancient civilizations. We don't know what they are those structures, who or what made therm and why. We also don't know if their creators were Martian or extrasolar. Most important, we still don't know if their creators are dead... or still alive.

Today, Mars is inhabited by some native animals and plants, as well as the children of the first explorers from Earth. Today Mars "belongs" to SimMartians, Sims who came from Earth or born on Mars.

With all those ancient ruins, more and more SimMartians are worried. Did we colonize a wrong planet? Are we unwanted? Will the technological and spiritual upgrading on Mars has an end soon? Is there a cosmic drama with unknown "actors" and we are just in the middle of the drama without even know about it? SimMartians are not fearless, but they'll not let this fear take over their spirits and minds.

Mars is a haunted planet, as some Sims believe. There are stories about Sims who "listened" the voices of the aliens and even "saw" their shadows. Sceptical Sims reject those stories, claiming that they are just games of our mind affected by those discoveries. But let's face it, Mars is an exotic, beautiful and creepy planet. With all those discoveries, it's better to prepared for the best... or for the worst.

Great new update! Nice small mountain!

noahclem

Nice "communication" (not update ;)   I like the storyline--it sounds like you have something interesting planned involving the ancient Martians....

Eight months ago, Elias, I said this:

QuoteGood day to start a MD, and especially one that takes us to somewhere unique

Eden is, as a Mars-based MD, unique by definition.  I wish there was more Mars-unique stuff for you to use, and the greenery and the trees in some of the pics throws me a bit.  But you have done something here that's always worth a read, and I certainly will continue to lurk.

It's September, but summer isn't over yet. Summer will end up in autumnal equinox (23/9/2011), so let's have some extra holidays ;D
Today we'll explore minor colonies that established on Mars, but we'll return to the mayor colonies soon enough :)

namspopof: Thanks :)

bat: Thank you :)

noahclem: Glad to see that you like it :) . The ancient Martians maybe they're dead... maybe we'll find them. Stay tuned ;)

dedgren: Glad to hear that :) . There are some stuff that can be used for SimMars as well, with some modifications of course, and more are coming soon. As about the trees, they supposed to be the Martian trees that Frank discovered in 2060 A.D. (91 A.T.). Don't blame me for lack of alien trees in Simcity.

And don't feel a stranger, there is a lot of space on Mars to live :)

ricardomiranda: Thank you :)

Tomas Neto: Thanks :)

Dantes: Glad to see that you like it :) . You can get the Dlowani and Blitkarni Blikora.

sumwonyuno: Thanks :)

Page 33: Opportunity

"The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."
Winston Churchill

The situation on planet Earth is not so nice. Wars and global riots creates a huge chaos. There are serious tries to calm them down, but that's not so easy. Many Sims escaped from Earth to found a better place to live. Moon is the most common choice. Everybody here is rich and peaceful, and also it's close to Earth.

The bravest Sims however select Mars as the best place. It's too far from Earth and has a new, radical way to live. The mayor colonies has all the comforts to host anybody.

However not everybody want to live in those colonies. Some Sims established minor colonies, with their different laws and ways of life. SimMartians doesn't have any problem with them. There is a lot of space on Mars and this planet belongs to everybody.

Here is a typical minor colony. Most of the colonies are linked by roads for trading. In a promising but still dangerous planet, solidarity is the best way to live.

All minor colonies have solar or static electric power plants, water pumps, homes, farms to feed the colonists, factories to make useful items, shops for trade, clinics for medical emergency situations and repairing stations to prevent decommissions and fires.

On planet Mars, anybody has the opportunity to build his/her own colony and create his/her version of Utopia. Because of this, don't surprise if you see minor colonies everywhere!

I told you. Everywhere!!

You may find some settlements next to main roads.

This minor colony is close to Faith-3 and constructed next to a railroad.

Some Sims found Mars as an excellent opportunity for isolation.

No, this is not a ruin of the ancient Martians. It's a small arcology made by SimMartians. Why having lots of roads and homes? Messy thing. Let's make an autonomous colony in a pyramid-shaped building.

Speaking about arcologies...

All minor colonies accept help by the mayor colonies. This however brings some interesting questions. Is it possible to see the minor colonies evolve into colony-states, like the city-states of the distant past? Will the history and it's mistakes repeat, this time on a new planet? Are those minor colonies a threat for the great technological and spiritual experiment? All SimMartians welcomes the new colonists, but nobody welcomes the repeat of the past...
