Hello out there,

after having bought a brandnew Laptop with Win7 64bit we unfortunately found out that our most beloved game SC4 Rush Hour event won't install  :'(. Although we try on a 4GB RAM machine with a Intel Pentium P6100 Dual Core 2 GHz CPU (should be enough as SC4 doesn't require so much....). We also tries to find out if we can install the Virtual Machine from the Microsoft Web Page but after having checked it said that the Virtual Machine won't run on our laptop. Is there really nothing we can do but to bury our most beloved game ???()what()
We also tried to install or run the setup.exe under Windows XP but as the CD is not realized on the laptop (normally yes but it doesn't work with the SC4 installation CD, we tried other CDs and they ran properly) we do not get so far to get to the install routine.....
We alsoo checked the forum entries but most of the other SC4 fans got help with the Virtual Machine. Should we also install it on our laptop ? We also are very afraid to damage sth. on our laptop (as it took some time to save all the money for it...)

So if there is anybody out there who could help us we would really appreciate it  :)

So many thanks in advance and we really do look forward to you replie(s)  &apls

Many greetings and a merry Xmas from snowy Germany

It won't install? Try disabling the UAC and see if that helps at all.

I'm running it on a Core 2 Quad Win 7 x64 machine with no issues.

I'll check back and do my best to help.

Cheers,
Kevin

Let me explain. The dialog box appears and I click on autorun. But nothing happens. On my old PC (with XP), the CD works fine. The game had already been previously installed on Vista64 but now I can not install it. UAC disabled, removed Avira and tried to manually clean the registry with Regedit. But it probably is something that blocks all of the old installation.
Thanks for your interest.

Now I'm on Vista 64, E8500, 8Gb ram, HD4870.
I can install & play the first Simcity4 but not the DELUXE EDITION.

No tech help here, just a thought. Your Rush-Hour CD doesn't work, or Disc 2 from the deluxe version.  I only say this because if you have the Deluxe Version you wouldn't install Original SC4 first.

The AutoRun launcher doesn't work for me either under Windows 7, but you don't need it.  All you have to do is navigate to the CD and launch the installer manually.

You should not need to use any compatibility settings to run SC4.

Perhaps my explanation was confusing. The CD works fine. I can install on my old PC with XP but not on the new with Vista64. I tried to install (and goes well) the old Simcity4 (not DELUXE) to verify that the problem was not due to failure to meet the requirements. In fact, with the utility system applications (ez.exe) the ram is equal to zero, but I have 8Gb.

Already done. autorun.exe, setup.exe from the CD folder.
I tried to move the contents of the CD to a folder on my desktop and start the installation from there.
Nothing to do.
The only thing that I think plausible is the presence of a marker in the registry that prevents a new installation.
