Hi! :-)

After several months in which I have only been a guest here I decided to register and post some pictures of my current city here as well. I have seen many great pictures here so I hope that my pictures are appropriate for this forum.

Before I start showing some pictures, I wanted to provide you with some information concerning my cities:
1. My aim was/is to build a huge town that has a European look.
2. I am not interested in building a city that is properly planned; that means that I do not care about a perfectly constructed street or public transport system.
3. I did not try to rebuild a town that really exists. Nevertheless I wanted to implement some famous places of Berlin, my most favourite town. Perhaps you will recognise them.

I think that's enough for the moment...let the show begin!!

1.1. Every large city needs parks and areas to find some rest. Hemsbach has a very large park that was influenced by Berlins Tiergarten ... in this picture, you can see the great intersection in the middle of the park with the famous Siegessäule in its centre.

1.2. The park also includes a small lake...doesn't it look nice?

1.3. This picture is supposed to give you an idea about the dimensions of the park.

1.4. Let's have a look at the city centre. This is the main station and the surrounding area.

1.5. Another view of the main station with its tracks.

1.6. An overview of a part of the historical city centre.

1.7. A second overview of the city centre, which looks here more modern due to the skyscrapers.

1.8. This picture is also heavily inspired by Berlin. This is Hemsbach's version of the Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin Mitte.

1.9. The next famous Berlin place that I tried to implement in my town is my version of the Alexanderplatz with the TV Tower and the Park Inn Hotel.

1.10. Hemsbach isn't located at the sea but there is nevertheless some water; here you can see some part of the channel that crosses the city.

1.11. Again: the channel!

1.12. The last picture I want to include in this first part of my major diary is an overview of Hemsbach...this picture has been taken more than two months ago and many things have changed in Hemsbach since then...you will get another overview in the next update. I just wanted to give you an idea of how the whole city looks like.

This was the first update of Hemsbach. I hope that you liked some of the pictures I've posted here so far and I'm looking forward to your replies and comments, no matter whether they are positive or negative.

Thats a great start to whats looking to be like a fantastic CJ!

I kind of compare your city to Frankfurt, in that it has that mixture of modern to go with the old school European feel.

You did a great job mixing the old with the new!

Absolutely fantastic start ! I must say I loved this first update and the whole looking city. The skyscrapers fits with the W2Ws very well.

Hey!
Thank you very much for the first comments, I was really happy when I read them!

@nedalezz: You are right, the city looks a little bit like Frankfurt. I didn't plan it that way but I was happy nevertheless when the first skyscrapers started to grow and so I decided to mix old W2W buildings with these modern-looking commercial buildings.

Anyway, I decided to show you some more pictures...

2.1. First of all: I love squares and plazas and wanted to build many of them in my old city centre. Some of them were changed by me in the lot editor, but most of them remained unchanged. The first picture shows a small plaza next to the old town hall; the surrounding area is dominated by residential buildings.

2.2. The second square is called "Two Riders Square" ... there is no lot editor work involved, I designed this square by combining some smaller lots and I'm really happy with the final design. What do you think about it?

2.3. Another small square, surrounded by some various old buildings.

2.4. I used the lot editor to design this one. It's nothing special, though, just a small plaza with a statue in its centre.

2.5. Another square, this time a more modern-looking one.

As it's very late in Germany (1.30 am) and as I'm very tired, I'll stop here ....more pictures will be shown here soon. So...stay tuned :-)
I'm looking forward to your answers!

I´m happy to see your work also here at sc4devotion. Nice to see that your city got a name as well, allthough the german title was/is really funny. :D
I really like your plazas, because they vary a lot. Also your BAT selection is fine. I´m looking forward to see more!

Very great plazas there, I quite liked a lot the "Two Riders Square" I find it extremely beautiful. Also the one you made in the Lot Editor was very nice... although you'd better use fences such as Glenni's to circle the grassy areas.  Anyway all of them are looking great !

Take care,
-Arthur.

Hi!

Thank you again for your kind comments.
@Simcitler: I've been thinking about a proper name for a long time....but while writing the first post here I realized that I don't have any creativity concerning the naming of towns. So I decided to use the name of my hometown ;-)

@art128: Thank you. I'm not really used to working with the Lot Editor...actually, this is the first town I build in which some customised lots appear.
I like the white fences, though and as they are extremely rare in Hemsbach I decided to use them.

@Tomas Neto: Thank you as well :-)

3.1 As I'm aware of the fact that promises should be kept, the first picture of the third update shows an overview of Hemsbach. I included one in the first update but there is a need for a current one:

I think that you can clearly see how Hemsbach has been developing over the last few weeks.

3.2. Let's have a look at some more detailed scenes...This pictures shows the tunnel below the main station's tracks. As there are so many of them I thought that such a tunnel would be more effective than a bridge.

3.3. Et voila....this is the other tunnel entrance/exit.

3.4. A huge city like Hemsbach needs more than one station. This is why I built this one: The East Station. Many people use it and the other stops in the surrounding area to get to their working place.

3.5. A second shot of the station.

3.6. The following three pictures are supposed to show you how and where many of the inhabitants live...
Flats, flats, flats...

3.7. More flats...

3.8. And yes, there are even more flats. At the moment, approximately 500,000 inhabitants live in Hemsbach....they all need a place to live.

3.9. Let's go back to the city centre...the next pictures again shows how modern and historical buildings have been combined throughout the years.

3.10. This is also illustrated in this picture. You can see the old opera building, a rather small palace, the church of St. Maria and the old hotel building - nevertheless, there is a huge skyscraper in the foreground.

3.11. The third update will be completed by a picture that shows you Hemsbach's historical Town Hall. It is surrounded by parks and public gardens and - of course - there has to be a Town Hall Square.

I hope you like the new pictures and - as always - I'm looking forward to any comments.

Happy New Year!

Excellent update once again ! I really loved the part of the flats (as I'm a big fan of flats, ghettos and commie blocks..  ;D ). That town hall and plazas are very nice. And again that mix of old buildings and modern towers is really well done, and shows very well the ambiance in almost each modern European cities. (and more actually in Germany.) My favorite picture was the first one, truly excellent.

Take care,
-Arthur.

Fantastic city &apls
I notice that you use the Pegasus alternative railroads. Because the texture doesn't appear in the N.A.M. puzzle pieces, i think that here you will find something useful :)

Aaaaaah, thank you very much! I have been searching for something like this for a very long time :-) I disliked the different railroad textures but I didn't know what to do ... now I have the perfect solution :-)

Interesting MD you have here. And even though you say that you are not aiming for a perfect transportation system I must say I like your rails and roads.

Beautiful city, I love the W2W stuff, and those flats are also great looking. The tram lines which go between the buildings are great looking too!
Has it really been almost 2 years?
Must return. :)
