Hi,

I'm a big fan of canals and have downloaded nearly all ploppable canals that are available (SimGoobers Brick Canals, PEG PPonds, Channel Stream Kit, Oppies Canals, ...). Since all of them do have their strenghts and weak spots, the best thing to do is to use them together. Apart from having transition pieces, the biggest problem for me is that they all have different water textures. Now I would like to replace the water texture of the different canal pieces with a single one.

Now, is this possible? And how would I do? Using the Reader? Or would I need to open them in the Lot Editor?

Thanks,

Rady
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.

Hi Rady,

Sorry to keep you waiting so long. I just saw your question.

You cannot simply change the watertexture. I think all canal sets (I haven't seen them all) use their own water and these are not textures that you can exchange, but they are part of the model. Usually the water in the canals looks as if it is lower than the land it is in. This can only be achieved by making a model. Usually the edge/quay or whatever surrounds the water is also a part of the model.
So you need to render the original models with all the same water texture, or whatever is used to make these models (that is something I know nothing about). And I fear that is not going to happen.
