Bought download version of SC4 from EAGames - Can't register!

Hi everyone,

I bought a couple of CD copies of SC4 years ago (one for me, one for my brother) when SC4 first came out. Seeing all the great content here, I I recently donated 35 euro for the LEX disk, and also paid for SC4 again (having lost the disks long ago).

The problem is, I bought the game online at the eagames website. The EA games download manager said it was 'ready to play' and sure enough, it would load up correctly. But then, big problems! First, I couldn't install any of the updates - they brought up an error saying 'SC4 was not installed'. So I can't run any of the custom content or mods correctly from the LEX.

The most frustrating thing though, is that you don't get a serial number when you download - you get a license key.

So, I can't product register the game, which means I can't get the Maxis props and rewards, which means I have brown boxes!

Can't seem to locate any offical EA support for this issue (I guess SC4 is a obsolete game for their point of view). Out of desperation I have downloaded an 'unofficial' version' of the game to try and get around this (I know this is a forbidden topic, and I'm sorry to mention it, but I HAVE purchased it (again) - I can send my license key to prove it) - anyway, I suspect the crack is interfering with the night lighting, so it looks like that was a bad idea too...

Can anyone help or advise?

If not, I guess I thought I'd post this as a warning to those considering buying the DL version from EA games - perhaps better to look for a CD version to purchase instead...

If you recently bought the game online, chances are you have the updated version already.  However, EA has been nice enough to allow this site to host the support files: Here.  No need to register.  Building Prop 1&2 are in the Lot Editor Section.

Correct.  In fact, I don't think an unofficial version can make nightlights even without the crack.

Hi guys,

Thanks for taking the time to consider my problem! Much appreciated.

That's good news, if the download version is already updated - then I didn't have a problem there. I should have tested that before abandoning the download version. If anyone can confirm, that would be great.

I was aware that the building props 1&2 were available without registration. But as far as I know, I can't get flagsofmanynations and the other files available from the Maxis site. These are listed as dependencies on the LEX disk - and I've confirmed as the source of some of my brown boxes.

If Maxis are cool with hosting the content, perhaps some kind soul could post these files on the LEX?
