Hey guys im new to sc4 and all the fun that comes with it. I have installed CAM (i think evrything was done correctly ) I also tried to install the Cam counter , I have no idea how to check if the cam counter is working, the readme didnt say anything about how to turn it on to look at the info it provides , and I have no idea if the CAM add on is actually working or not . Is there a simple way of checking this .
thanks.

also Ive installed the Cam residential and industrial packs, now as far as i can possibly tell I went through and installed all the dependiceis even some of the dependicies had a couple of dependicies but Im still getting the brown box over my industrial buildings and none as far as i can tell on the residential ones , Im reallyu not sure how I could of gone wrong allthough I am feeling a tad confused, i really hope someone can help me with this because ive really fallen in love with city building :) and id love to make my citiy look a bit more interesting as Im learning to grow them . Thx in advance nick.

EDIT. From what Ive read the brown boxes mean Im missing a bat file but Im so sure i downloaded evrything that was on the depend list for each addon, Is there a way to just uninstall evrything so i can start from fresh?

Welcome to SC4D Dougalis  :)

Quick way to tell if CAM is working is to look at your Demand Graph.  The Max should be 24,000 compared to 6,000 for non-CAM.  Another way is to start growing a bunch of R$ sims in a new City.  For non-CAM you will see them first start to upgrade stage (new lots will grow on already occupied zones) at near 300 sims.  This will not happen until around 1,000 for CAM.

The CAM counter counts buildings that are stage 9 and above.  You wont see these for a while, but click the query button (or press "?" on the keyboard), and then click on the building to see the info it provides.

As for dependencies, if you could post a picture it might help people guess what you are missing, though my way of dealing with brown boxes is to make new lots.

Uninstalling everything is a matter of taking the files out of your MyDocs\SimCity 4\Plugin folder.  There is no mod that directly effects the SimCity files, so a re-install is not needed.  I would say to not delete these files, but to put them some place safe on your computer.

Taking all of your plugins out can have dramatic effects on a city you have made with those mods, so at that point it is probably best to start on a fresh (pre-mayor mode) map.

Cheers

QuoteI have no idea how to check if the cam counter is working,

The first buildings counted as you play are build up your new city or region are likely to be industrial. Buildings downloaded from the SC4D LEX will be modded properly and will be counted. Tall buidlings downloaded from other places might not be counted.

:D   Well, I'm so sure you did not because after alll, there is a box.

I responded in another thread yesterday too .. that .. I always play the game with a pencil and small note pad near the keyboard. I downloaded the starter packs and like you initially had some boxes. Query the building, write down what it is, then at your convenience look at the below link. This list has always pointed me in the right direction. I had a stage 6 farm grow a couple weeks back and got a box. And I've had the CAM for a couple of years now.  ::)

I wager no. Afterall, there are only two places one can put things. \My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins   or    \Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Plugins

I guess it's more of 'what' you installed and not necessarily 'the way' it's installed.

My suggestion is to find a thread about SimCity and the various operating systems ... XP, Vista, Windows 7   ()what()

Good Luck

If I may have forgotten to remove the growable file for a building would that hinder CAM from growing it?

jmyers2043

Hello foskcoa4

Let's see if I understand the question:

It seems you download a building some time ago from another web site and it grows as a stage 8. You later download the CAM and got the various buildings which include a modified stage 13 version of the one you already have. But now realize that the old stage 8 is still in your plugins and you wish to know what the result may be? If so -

The old stage 8 building will still grow at stage 8. The new stage 13 will grow at stage 13. However, there might << might, possibly, maybe >> be some side affect to your cities skyline. Such as, the old stage 8 may grow like a weed. . .

Good Luck
