Great work on the rural area TTC, your pictures are perfect... ::)

Really beautiful. Amazing realism and excellent use of some maxis stuff that I rarely if ever touch. I think you've inspired me to remove a couple of blockers.

The sheep herd pic especially caught my eye. If that is not a HOF worthy shot,  don't know what is. The bonus as well...stunningly realistic.

I really enjoy reading your MD. Great job and everything looks fantastic !  &apls

Well its been a long time since the last update and maybe you also noticed that I have been a bit quiet on the site over the last few months, but life threw me a curve ball and things have been a bit hectic leaving me little time for myself.

As I write this I am on a short brreak home in Ireland with the family and enjoying a well earned break. Once back in the UK (thats if my flight leaves what will all the confusion of the restrictions because of the Icelandic volcano) hopefully things will be back to normal and that the replies and an update will follow real soon.

Its been over 2 months now since I last had a chance to fire up the game and I am itching to play and so much has happened on the site that it will take me weeks to catch up heehee.

Anyhow I just thought it would be nice to let you all know that I am fine and nothing bad had happened to me, just was very busy.

thanks also for all the fantastic comments by you all.

Good to hear from you Derry, and glad everything is getting back to normal (minus the volcano). Looking forward to what you've been coming up with.

Glad to hear ya'll are doing okay, Derry.    Hope you get a bit of relaxation time in while home.    Have a nice cuppa tea on me my friend.    If the volcano keeps ya home another day...       GIVE THANKS TO THE VOLCANO !   Time enough to sacrifice a virgin.     ;)        As a mate of mine here in Dubuque, IA, USA always says  "Good onya MATE!"    Okay she's not from here origionally either.   LOL   She's an Aussie.

Hi Derry! Sounds like a spewing volcano is mild compared to what you've been through! :o So it's great to know you're endured the hard times, and the good ones have already begun.

We're as eager as you are
to see you get back to SC4. Remember, sometimes a situation like yours can actually be a blessing in disguise. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you come back to the game with a fresh sense of enthusiasm and creativity.

Take care, my friend and fellow NUT.
We've left the light on for you! :)

Well here we once again with me giving you an update as to what is happeneing with T@TT.

A couple of things have happened that are in some ways good but in others bad.
Which would you prefer first? the good or the bad?

Lets start with the bad shall we.
Work has been crazy for the last few weeks but things are getting back to normal and you should be
seeing more of me on the site once more :)

Now for the worst bit.

My pc got infected by a virus.
(It was hidden within a gif that was sent to me (unknowingly) by my sister.
As they say don't open attachments from people you don't know! lol)

Some of you may have gotten a spam email from me (saying I was now selling electronics from China lol) for that I do apologise.

The issue has now been dealt with but it wrecked havoc on my pc.

Basically I lost everything, including all the rebuilt tiles in my region.

So its starting time once again. Now I am thinking do I continue with the region or do I start something new?
So much new stuff has arrived lately on the LEX that its about time to sort out my plugins once and for all.

So after much thought and a complete fresh install of everything on my pc ( gee why does it take so long lol)
So a little more patience please and you will soon be seeing some updates once again.

That's horrible, Derry. Viruses can be so annoying sometimes, and all of your hard work was so beautiful.  :(

For starting over, well, that's up to you in my mind. Whatever you decide I know that it'll be great.  :)

Very sorry to hear about your virus problem, but like you have said: Time for a spring clean-up :)

Jmouse

So glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you, Derry, both in RL and T@TT! I've no idea how much undeveloped area is left in your region map, nor do I know if you can add to a partially-developed region.

I do know Dave created Clontarf as an extension of Balnavia, a classic MD he started about two weeks after you started Tales at Tea Time. And lot has happened in the way of new custom content during those three years.

As for the virus, I feel your pain – we've all been there, done that! Glad you got the problem cleared up, though. A lot of viruses are just annoying, but there are plenty out there capable of destroying an entire computer system and everything else in sight. So be glad yours wasn't that kind, and remember, if it weren't for the bumps and potholes in the road, we wouldn't appreciate the expressway! :)

I'm sorry to hear that. It can be quite a chore to do a full reinstall of everything like that. Sorry to hear it was forced by a virus too. At least you know you'll have a clean plugins folder if nothing else. Yeah... not much consolation, I know. However, I'm sure whatever you come up with, whether Tales at Tea Time 2 (TaTTT)(aT^4)(or whatever it may be called) it will be  a feast for the eyes. In a way, you now have a fresh canvas to play with, and once you get everything together, I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi Derry!

Sorry to here that... Even though it wasn't a virus but a dieing hard disk I know how you feel!

On the other hand - a new beginning is hard to but has its own charme ...

Take care my friend!

Bernhard

FrankU

Oh how sorry I feel for your loss....
I am happy that I never experienced such troubles. My virusscanner is apparently able to catch everything.
And another thing: I make a backup every day on another partition on my HD and also once in a while on an external HD, so I'll never lose more that a month's work if my computer breaks down... maybe a good idea.

T'was the night before tomorrow,

and all through the House,

Not a creature was stirrring.

Not even a mouse (the batteries in the cordless one had run out).

Dust was settling in an ever increasing layer over the implements that had been so fondly used for so long,
Kettles, teacups, spoons.

A dank musty smell prevailed where once the aromatic smells of brewing Tea once held sway,
tempting those who wished to sample the delicate brews and pass time with those of good company.

keyboards no longer sounded the the sound they made when keys were been tapped.

Then an Almighty creak rendered the silence apart causing flocks of birds to take wing.
A piercing shaft of light split the darkness apart and a humanoid form appeared in the doorway.

Yes,   Yes, YES I found it!
Eh?
I mean WE found it.

Yeah! Right! Is this really it?

Yes!!

Seriously? , you've said this so many times before!

No This is it this time, it really is! I just know it. This is where we'll find the map.

Everything matches this time, the alignement of the stars,
the call of the wildcat,
the smell of the the tealeaves,
The boiling of the water.

Everything is pointing towards this moment!!

It's just got to be now!

Oh. Ok. It just I don't want to have to deal with your emotions again if it all goes down the drain again ok?
Next time you will just have to get professional medical help ok?

Won't need it, I can feeel it in my ........

It's ok I really don't need to know.

Ok people lets move slowly now we don't want to raise the dust.
thats the last thing we want to do!

Ok The main priority is to find the map yes?
Ok you two start over there, put your light in that corner.
.

.
.
.
.
.
You two start over there.
.
.
.
.
.
And I'll start over here by those funny looking boxes with the glowing lights, ok

If you find anything don't touch it.
Just call me ok....

right folks lets get to work eh?

Hey boss I found this - is it relevant?

Ok Folks The truth is RL took a swipe at me and I just had no time to play or do owt SC4 related.
I got infected by a virus on the pc which wrecked havoc, got it sorted then when I did my 15 yr old pc decided enough was enough and I will go out specatularly.
With flames and smoke. ()flamdev()

Ok I thought - time for a new pc so that I did, got me a fancy super duber with all the bells and whistles etc.
Then........

Ok I won't bore you all but needless to say there were lots of teething problems.
Still can't get some things to run but hey I can compromise.
I got the main things like sc4 doing fine nowso I happy for the mo :)

Anyhow I thought for a while I'd lost interest in sc4, thought I was ill or summat so I went to see a specialist.
I got his card here somewhere ah yes there it is

Anyhow he said I was fine, that no I hadn't lost that spark and he showed the xrays to prove it,
even gave me a copy such a nice guy he was, and if you look closely you can see for yourself :D

Anyway....

New pc means a New region and New plugins

In fact you could call this

Stay tuned for more
:satisfied:

Derry, I can't recall ever seeing a post on SC4D that pleased me more than this one! It's wonderful to see you back in the game and learn you're planning to cook up "A Fresh Brew."

A new machine and OS along with other considerations have caused several MDers to do the same. In your case, though, you have 3+ years of rock-solid playing experience behind you, and that's a mighty strong starting point!

So I'm eager to see what's cookin' :) .

Sometimes a "fresh brew" is just what the doctor ordered to give you a much needed spark of enthusiam.  I just put on a fresh pot myself with a new region starting from scratch.

I wish you the best of joy in new creations and can't wait to see what you boil up.  :P
