An update:

::) It does remind me of one of our own trains...

Speaking of which, are you willing to take requests? I might have a nice dutch train model for you to make:

when will be available ? I want to use them  ;)

The Japanese trains needs an installer. I have asked a friend to help me with the installer script.
As soon as his is done with it....

Then I might pack the Jananese JR Limited Express trains (the last model), the Gautrain and maybe one or two more.

Plan to do the following Japanese Limited Epress trains:

Super Hokuto

Super Hakucho

Super Kamui

NEX (Narita Express).

Kintetsu Ace (in this more yellow tone than normal shown in pictures)

Still have a hard time figuring out which color blue the Super Hokuto is.

No promises, but I might consider to do it.

Have finished most of the skin for the engine:

Now its time to work on the undercarriage, then the car.

A question to the pantograph ? Is that going on the engine, or should I do one on an extra car ?
At the moment, its just a question of leaving an area on the texture blank or not.

art128

Just a little thought, the Super Hokuto is a DMU, so it doesn't have a pantograph... :P

But still looks great!

For the pantograph area, just do as any other electrical engine, I think I'll look good enough. :)

I know its a DMU. Just rather subtract something later in the progress.

This is the texture for it. The carry green/yellow is transparent. The lines across the sides are the UV-Map.

The pantograph is done out of four area. Lets zoom in to the area mark blue:

Added some colors to the different area. (Turned the background white.)

Now you can see where it goes on the model:

So its just a matter of leaving this area blank or just remove it from the model.
The part that is colored red is something new. All the previous Japanese train models, I had to add that texture to the roof texture itself.

EDIT:
I have decided to add the pantograph to an extra car just like the other Japanese trains.
That means if people want an electric train the can add the file for the extra car to their plug-in folder.

Still have a hard time figuring out which color blue the Super Hokuto is.

The blueish color shows up as light blue, purplish blue to a clean blue.
Anyone have an idea what it is ?

Thank you Noah.

Just a little update:

HEAT - Hokkaido Express Advanced Train.

Time to relax after a long run today.

Looks great so far. That undercarriage is still gonna get some work, right? I hope that front bogie will move a bit forward. But great skin so far. Especially that panto is very detailed.

These type of engines are great for their cab views. A shame my company doesn't have anything like that anymore.

Thanks Willy.

Thought I had moved the front boogie, but some where a long the line I had undo it.

Had done the undercarriage now and the back side panel:

The back will not be seen on the engine, but it is also going onto the car.

The pantograph is moved to an extra car, so people have the choice if the want an EMU or DMU train.

This is the end, hold your breath and count to ten, feel the earth move, and then...

Now the engine and two cars are done:

Curious how the looks of the undercarriage do so much in terms of overall quality. Very good!

Looking very good there, Arne!

Played around with adjustment layers, making it easier to change the color tone of the blue and green:

Willy: The undercarriage did make a big change to the overall look.

Great looking train, it's the same one from art128 avatar. :O

I wish there was a way to add some gloss and reflection to the model texture to make it better.

TY, Aaron Graham.

Well spotted. Its more or less the same. It was from his avatar I got the idea to do them after seen it hundreds of times.

JR Hokkaido have about 3-6 models models running that looks very similar:
DMU: KiHa 261, 261-1000, KiHa 281, KiHa 283.
EMU: 789 / 789-1000.

You can see some of them in this post.

Time to do some tilt:

:P

Had to retrace the Logos for the HEAT 281 and Tilt 261:

Think I need to look into some vector graphic program, Illustrator or similar.
