art128: Thanks for dropping by, appreciate the comments.

Diggis: Well I only tell the truth  ;) I hear that a few kiwis actually stowed away and made there way
to England. Must be wrong. Bondi/Dover tough choice  :D

paroch: The clubhouse has the name of "BSC Sports Canteen". I've been searching but haven't found a
link yet. Maybe someone can help.

I agree, it is an unusual starting point and I have two more to do. Only one stadium was in place when DEVO 08
started to take shape. The stadiums are the easy bit  : :)

bat: Thanks bat,

caspervg: Thanks. Diggis' ponds will feature again soon.

threestooges: lol. Thanks Matt, and a bit of a teaser below.

Jmouse: Joan, no plans to shut up shop yet. With reviews like that how could I quit  ;) Thanks

Simpson: Thanks Simpson, most appreciated.

dsrwhat316: Dan, I am having fun tinkering, so far so good I think. Thanks for the comments.

Pat: Did I mention the guards are armed, while everyone inside is legless   ::)  Sorry  $%Grinno$%

Emperor Stormont: Good to see you dropping by again. Appreciate the comments.

stewart_garden: Just a lucky guess  :D Thanks Stewart

Cattai

Well as you probably have guessed by now, my next quad includes use of the new JPN wall/river sets.

Cattai is the testing ground, the last huuuge tile in the region. Below are a couple of pics of the dam and river.
Still a lot of work to do, especially terraforming but hope this gives you a taste of things to come.

Feedback appreciated as always

Cheers all

Dave

Simpson

Very fine work here  and also very réalistic. I'm until forward to the next update

Jmouse

Dave, do you remember what you were doing on June 4, 2007? Among other things, you posted a photo of Padstow Quays on page 1 with nothing on the tile but a candelabra-shaped waterway below a slight embankment.

Five days and an update later, I posted this comment:
QuoteWhen I first saw the quay in the raw terraformed state, I didn't think I'd like it, but you've done wonders with the idea. I'd never have visualized such a scenic spot emerging.

The next day, still on the same page, you replied:
QuoteJmouse: Hey, you didn't think you'd like it, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. I had no real plans and no idea how things would fit together, thankfully it worked out all right. It's fun jumping in the deep end.

Well, my first look at Cattai brought those memories back, but things have changed in the past 15 months. Now you have a new toy to play with, and I'm confident you know exactly where you're headed with it. And I've seen enough of your work to know it will look terrific.

But alas, some things will never change. Think maybe you could show us some population and traffic-flow data while you're about it? ;)

Later...
Joan

paroch

Only Joan would be able to remember such a quote.  And as impressive as her memory is that resevoir is looking even more impressive already, even without the addition of trees, flora, rocks and other assorted bits you always place so well.

I've played with the JPN only a little bit so far, so it's difficult for me to add anything, more a case of seeing what you're doing and then stealing learning from your results  :D

And I'm a bit concerned by the hilly nature of the terrain...... I need to check my firewall settings to make sure you've not hacked into West End!!!

Looking forward to what you achieve here Dave.

The lake is nice, but the canal below the dam is what caught my attention. The bridges look great there, and I'll be interested to see how you work with it. As has already been mentioned (and will be mentioned at least once more by me) the area looks pretty darn good as it is now without all the extras. I can only imagine what's down the road (or river). Nice work as always.

bat

Great work there on the river / canal!!!
Looking forward to more...

Ennedi

Hello Dave, your JPN river attempts look excellent, especially the canal and it's mouth!

I'm very interesting in your ideas about an arrangement of the lake surrounding, especially along wide curves. Great work!  &apls

I look forward to watching you work a little more with this and maybe borrow a few of the idea's to improve my skills  ;)....   ooooh I so would rather be a guard then a guest hehehehe...

Simpson: Thanks Simpson, glad you like  :)

Jmouse: Well the approach hasn't really changed, jump in the deep end and see what happens. Hopefully you float  ;)
Only you could remember that,  ::)  And stats, well, this is a big quad so I'll show some stats for you as things develop.
As for the moment, you'll have to take my word for it that there is a school of fish moving downstream and a couple of
tortoises heading in the opposite direction  $%Grinno$%

paroch: Steal away my friend. As for the hills, they are there now but the Dave leveller hasn't made an appearance yet.
The hills may be shaved down a tad, or not  :-\

art128: Thanks

threestooges: Thanks Matt, hopefully you all enjoy the result. And my apologies for not commenting sooner, but welcome
to the NUThouse, you're a brave man ;D

bat: Thanks bat, maybe it needs a couple of Rhine River cruise ships to liven things up?

Ennedi: Appreciate the comments Adam. The lake/river is the easy part, they are great lots and pretty easy to work with.
It's the surrounds that will be the big test. Fingers crossed that I pass.

Pat: Thanks Pat, and the gate pass is in the mail  :) Should get you by the guards (I think).

alan_vzla: Thanks for the comments. I'm guessing you have a PC issue, otherwise there is no reason why you can't
do the same, just keep practicing and don't be afraid to use the bulldozer, I know mine gets a lot, if not too much use.

Cattai

Well I haven't been spending much time in front of the monitor lately, but I've completed the river. Below are a couple of pics
which you may find of interest and as always, welcome your feedback.

"The Pond". To be surrounded by medium and high density residential. Still plenty of terraforming req'd to raise the
surrounding land levels, as is the case along most of the river.

And the ever troublesome transition. Not perfect but I don't think it looks too bad, let me know your thoughts, good
or bad. Yes there is a lot of water flowing out, but the gates only open when I take a pic  ::)

So the development comes next. As I mentioned above, and as some of you may have noticed, I have been a bit scarce lately.
I don't expect this to improve much for the rest of the year, but Balnavia will continue and I will update as often as I can. Thanks for
the ongoing support.

Cheers

Dave

Well done on this update Dave, and thanks for the welcome. I think I'm getting used to things with the NUTs and I'm looking forward to helping out as I may. As for the river, it looks pretty good. The circular area looks like it could turn into a whirlpool if the current picked up on it... could be fun. At any rate, good to see you around and I'll keep an eye out for what else you have in store.

Your river looks just stunning, Dave! Excellent usage there! I can't wait to see how the area surrounding takes shape.

Take care, my friend!

Two fantastic pictures of that beautiful looking river!!
And the transition looks excellent!!

I'm always anticipating the time when I click on the "Show new replies..." link and notice activity in your MD Dave.  Mostly because it is always interesting to see what you will be playing with next.  So I am enjoying seeing what you can do with the JPN set - it has been in my plugins folder for a while and hasn't seen any use.  As with many other plugins, you have inspired me to experiment with the JPN set.  Keep going sir and I hope you are eagerly looking forward to a new cricket season!
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
