The harbours are grand, Dave - a huge undertaking, but obviously well planned. Yet another project that takes time, patience and a lot of stubbornness determination! The walls, the use of which you seem to have mastered, look really good. There's a weathered look to them that adds much to the overall scene.

Industry looks good - bustling with life as it should be - and the rail yard is very well done. Glad to see you getting back into the LE – you really have a talent and, of course, a keen eye for detail.

Your neighborhoods always look good, and who can resist a tooheys train on a curve! Thenk  you for remembering how much I like them!

Verrrrrrry nice Dave.

Those port lots work well - I'll have to go add 'em to my armoury!

The RailYard you LE'd looks great.  I'd be interested to see some shots in LE to get a feel for the base lot you've amended.  I like the "simplicity" of it compared to the freight yards that occupy my plugins at the moment (nothing wrong with them but change is as good as a rest and all that).

Great trains on curves - they really do go well there.

My only slight downer is that avenue junction over the highway.  For some reason it just don't do it for me.  But that is a minor issue when taken in context of the update as a whole - at least it's nice and flat  ::)

Take care and catch up soon,

Paul

Pat

hmm dave and a port now that is a good one indeed!! I think your port looks very good here Dave and I do like it, also the seawalls I like how that turned out...

Simpson Thanks David, appreciate the comments.

Nardo69 Great to hear from you Bernhard. Can't believe I missed a tile, always count on you pick
something like that up  ;D The suggestion re the eateries has been taken on board, you are correct in saying that there is
usually some "takeaways"  sprinkled thru industrial areas. I'll keep this in mind  Thanks.

bat Thanks bat

art128: Thanks for dropping by Arthur

TheTeaCat: Hi Derry, you are right, it does need an office. I'll get to work on that. And I did try to keep way from the
container props, but it seems one or two might have slipped thru  :) I'm sure they're just in storage, waiting for their ship to
come in  $%Grinno$%

Jmouse: Thanks Joan, I think I like ports only a little bit less than rural areas, my fave of course. Some further comments
below  ;D

paroch: That junction is a bit ugly, I agree. Have tried some alternatives which will show up a bit later. And I'll try and
put a hill in the next update  :) (well maybe)

Pat: Thanks Pat, I like the liquid port too  ;)

Now some context to the title of this update. Joan is somewhat persistant in her pursuit of MD stats and data  ::)

So to shut her up appease Joan, I promised to post some info if she managed to make the 800th post to Balnavia.
A reasonable bet you may say, but you have to realise that Joan only sleeps 15 minutes a day, so the odds weren't in
my favour  $%Grinno$%. So Joan here is your prize.

The Region of Balnavia

Look at all those empty tiles, I could be playing this region for years. Sorry about the large pic's, I rarely use them, but this is a
huge area. Dustin, let me know if you need them resized.

Current regional population stats

R: 2,262,905
C: 1,395,873
I: 858,367

And a shot showing the transport layout.

Cattai

City population stats

R: 145,197
C: 117,316
I: 24,152

As you can see, there has been quite a lot of development going on which will feature over the next few weeks.

Oh yeah, I got my water mod up and running again. Thanks to threestooges who suggested I change the order of my plugins.
Worked 1st go

Despite the growing population, traffic conditions are still good as can be seen in the following:

So there you go, hope you find it of some interest. Joan, let me know if there is anything else you would like to see.
A further update tomorrow.

Cheers

Dave

Your picture size is fine, Dave!

And the region looks absolutely amazing--I'm so glad that Joan won the bet!

Excellent work, as per usual here in Balnavia, my friend!

Dustin

Jmouse

Absolutely perfect, Dave. I couldn't have asked for a better prize. You made it worth staying awake for 36 hours to snag that 800th post - I love Balnavia!

The overviews are stunning,
and a bit surprising. I remember your saying at the start that you terraform as you go, but you seem to have pretty much conquered that part. Population figures are reaching lofty heights - more than 2.5 mil - but the traffic overview is the most impressive. You have a logical and straight-forward approach to the transport system, and the Data Views prove that it works well for you. Yet it looks great up close, too. By this time next year, I'll be shamelessly copying your layouts in Atascocita! ;D

Thanks for the special update, partner, and for the 900th post I'd like to see some development on those little hills that have crept in despite your best efforts to flatten the landscape.

I'm awake...
Joan

Simpson

Hey Dave  ;)

You have done a really impressive work in this region who is looking so réalistic &apls
Cattai is looking superb, I love the general picture of this city. And also I'm looking forward to the next update my friend

You should make bets with Joan more often Dave. It's great to see the overall picture as well as to see the area still to cover (makes me feel good to know Balnavia will likely be around for some time to come). Excellent work, and I'll keep looking forward to what else is to come. I'd also like to see a bit of development of those hills too.

thundercrack83: Hehe, I don't think I had a chance Dustin. Thanks mate.

Jmouse: Thanks Joan, I'm glad you liked. 800 posts, wow. You have been a big contributor, a strong supporter and a
great friend. Thankyou  By the way, no bets for the 900th post, you need to get some sleep  :)

Simpson: Hi David, thanks for dropping by. Appreciate the comments.

sciurus54: Thankyou

bat: Thanks bat

threestooges: Hmm, those hills, might get there someday. Did I tell you how much I love hills $%Grinno$% Thanks for the
comments Matt, and yes, I hope to be around for a while yet.

Cattai

Karaoke and Accordians, these people have a problem.

The river mouth, but if the water is flowing out, wouldn't it be the river.....hmmm, nevermind.

The Cattai Aquarium for Fish and other Things that Swim ::)

The Museum of Unnatural History and to the left, the Regent on the Park. What park you may
say....

Well this one. Paul I did promise a hill, but it was easier to include this instead :D. I'm glad they're watching
the football and a not a replay of the RLWC, oh so sad :'(.

So Cattai has gone highrise as is highlighted in the next few pic's.

Once a quiet leafy suburb, the developers have stepped in. A few long term residents have held out
and refuse to sell. Their kids don't mind though, those properties are worth a fortune.

Once Balnavia's first House of Parliament, this estate now houses the Conservatory of
Modern Lip Syncing

So I hope you have enjoyed the latest update. Look forward to your comments as always.

Cheers

Stunning work, Dave! Just stunning!

I love your transition from the canal to the in-game water, especially--very clever and creative!

Every time I stop in here, I find more and more inspiration!

Thanks for that, my friend!

Dustin

TheTeaCat

Magnificent update. &apls
The park in among the 'scrapers looks real good.Wonderful transition (one of the best I've seen yet)
from canals to the ingame water. That must have taken some time to get right ;D

Cattai has really grown up - I like

Hi Dave,

Two great updates there. The traffic stats are certainly interesting.  And the region view is always good to see.  Took me a little while to spot Cattai on the map - but I found it.

As for the city itself.  Yes, it's the usual HIGH quality we've all come to expect.  The scraper district looks very good.  And it's also nice to see one of the fans zones crop up in Balnavia.  You use a different BSC Park path texture to me, so it was good to see a fan zone looking different from what I'm used to.

The waterside pics are reall nice, and as everyone says, that transition is very nice indeed.

And thanks for keeping Joan happy with stats - it means I don't have to do any for a while  ;) :D

Simpson

WOw, Dave  :o

Since I'm a bit behind on my posting schedule, I'll have to echo what many others have said. The water transition is about as perfect as anything I've ever seen.

You've rather outdone yourself on the parks this time - wonder if you and Paul (paroch) are in a race, or maybe just practicing! ;D The cloud scratchers look good - there aren't too many of them and they have plenty of green space between them. I especially like the sixth photo with that traffic quad at the top. You did a great job on the museum and conservatory grounds, too - I'm suitably impressed. You and Paul both have given me some terrific ideas.

I like the intricate terracing in the fifth photo from the end, and the paddle boats a few pics down are a good idea, too. I've never seen a Balnavia update that failed to have a strong impact, and they just keep getting better and better!
