Welcome back! Today we're touring Sherkston Midtown. Construction is starting to heat up here.

Midtown has a mix of historic and modern buildings.

There's a mix of residential and commercial, especially here on the fringes of downtown.

That parking lot won't last much longer.

Suddenly night time. Shops, offices and apartments light up the night sky.

All the night lights make for nice scenery, even in Midtown.

It's quiet now, but this scene will be busy again tomorrow morning.

None to Previous Update.

Thanks For Visiting!

Great work. I like the night images. &apls

Welcome Back! Today we're touring the sprawling paradise of Kuhan. Be sure to remember exact directions...

Not too long ago, this intersection wasn't even here. Now shops and construction frame it.

A large mall is coming soon...

Not too far away lies more shopping.

There are a few houses in the area. Depending on your definition of "few."

Now which house is mine, again?

This will serve as a landmark for many at night. "I live in the house by the large office building!"

In the end, that won't be much help. Now, was it a right at the first street, or a left at the second? Oh dear. I think I'm lost.

Glad you liked them, I thought they turned out nicely. ;D

Gugu3
Thanks! Glad you think so. :)

Swordmaster
Thanks! This is one of my hidden gem areas in Holt. I really like how these pictures framed it, too. ;D

Thanks for Visiting!

Suburbia captured perfectly.  Looks just like places I live near.  Even the shopping center layout, with the restaurants and small shops out by the road, and department stores behind, separated by mega parking lots.  Excellent  &apls

APSMS

Yeah, there are places like that nearby where I live too (home, that is, not college). Thankfully we didn't move to one of those places. I can't stand 'em...well, not living in them anyways. They're nice to visit (for all of you who actually do live in that kind of suburbia).

You're great with the photoshopping/effects/graphic art design, but I think the thing that amazes me most is that the cities themselves aren't photoshopped (unlike, say, the Andorra CJ by Antimony). How do you get all those houses to grow like that?
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Nice work! Who doesn't love sprawling subdivisions?  $%Grinno$%

Who would've thought such repetition would be so beautiful?  ;)

Great job!

vortext

That must have taken some time bulldozing and regrowing those 'burbs.  :D

The result is pretty amazing though, pic #5 is my favorite in that regard.

I just finally caught up on the last year of HD, and I have to admire the tremendous effort you put into this. The storylines, the branding and graphics, the inclusion of the entire political/planning side of development, are all just incredible. And on top of it you manage to keep building attractive and realistic cities as well!

Keep up the great work, and I hope the new format allows you the balance of RL and play that you need to keep HD running.  :)

Wow, some really nice pictures. I like the night lights of that housing area the most.

Call me Robin, please.

I'm happy to move one of my favorite MDs into this section. Holt District is of special interest for the first month of the new year. Happy 2014!

I thought custom content was supposed to cut down on repeating buildings... wait, this is a suburb.  It's supposed to look that way.  Good job!   The inclusion of big box shopping is a welcome touch; people need to spend their money somewhere.

Congratulations on OSITM, Sim_link!  &apls
Find my power line BAT thread here.
Check out the Noro Cooperative.  What are you waiting for?  It even has electricity.

Welcome Back! Today we're checking out the changing skyline in Sherkston.
Hey, wait... no! Don't park there, it's about to be a skyscraper!

These parking lots were once a staple around the Toyota Centre, the main arena in Sherkston.

Nowadays, cranes tower over the former parking lots.

This was to be a parking garage, but plans now call for another building.

Lots of cranes. The Provincial Capital is in the background.

All those cranes have residents wondering how long until this...

...becomes this...

OSITM Exclusive! What they skyline may soon look like...

Indiana Joe
Thanks! It`s places like this I visit freuently, particularly the shopping malls, so I thought it was time for Holt to get the super-sprawl treatment! :)

APSMS
Yea, my area isn't quite as bad as this, thought it is getting there. My particularly area has more space than these photos, and these mega-shopping centres are not right around the corner, either. Which isn't a bad thing, really.

And thank you! I love doing graphics work, so I work it in to Holt. And I don't like to overly photoshop the city images themselves, but I do tweak the colours a tad - the in-game photo colours are a tad drab. :P

Swordmaster
They're hard not to love!  $%Grinno$%

Shroud
Soemtimes it doesn't work very well, this case it did. Glad you like it! :)

vortex
A bit, but not much! Only zoning one side half of a block at once, long strips, dezone one square to form a series of 1x1 lots, and voila! Removing some of my CC houses helped. :P

whatevermind
Wow! Thanks for being dedicated - and I'm glad you've enjoyed it so much! Everything came together way better than I ever expected it to. ;D And you're absolutely right, that exactly is why I launched the new format. Better balance of MDing, RL and actually playing SC4. :P

rooker1
Thanks! I like the night lights of the area as well.

Swordmaster
Thanks so much Swordmaster! I'm super happy to be here in the OSITM section again. ;D
Happy New Years, by the way!

metarvo
Indeed -one of the scenarios where repetition works well is the suburbs! I love building shopping centres, and they fit perfectly into the scenery here in the sprawlburbs.
Look forward to seeing you around this month! :)

SpeedbumpJoey
Thanks - hope you enjoyed this one!

vortex
Thanks! Hope to continue seeing you around this month!

Assuming the GPS tells you to turn at the right house! If it tells you to turn too early... :P

Thanks For Visiting!
And thanks to everyone here at SC4D! Holt is OSITM for the second time this month. Watch for OSITM exclusives at the end of most updates this month!
