East Tenne: Meet Me At The Fair

Let's arrive at the fair by rail for a day of fun!

I have a season pass, so we can head right on!

A little paddleboat action in the Court of Honor to get us started?

Time to get your culture on! There's more exciting stuff about feline culture than you can shake a stick at!

Now it's time to head to The Midway! There's more than just games and fried food on a stick at this midway. Loosen your belt a few notches, bust open your wallet and get ready to have some serious fun!

The Midway has all sorts of attractions. Apparently one is the fun or running through the fountains. And you thought felines didn't like getting wet...

Visit Lost Worlds, the exhibit about ancient Schulmania. Ever wondered what the cats of the world did before the internet gave them all power? Come and see!

At the Hendricks Palm House, exotic flora and fauna entertain and delight fans of all ages

The Wirdletorium... not sure why cats would swim here, since they hate water. But maybe the come to watch other critters swim...

Want to catch a show at the Jace Theater?

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?" DEATH thought about it. "CATS," he said eventually, "CATS ARE NICE.

East Atkinos: Downtown Abbey

Outside of the East Atkinos town of Christinburg (halfway between West Forest and the Woods of Wayne) Fleet Captain Splunt and his bride, the Baroness of Pyy, are building an estate. For some reason, they have decided to name it "Downton Abbey."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2M3moEeErr8

There's no telling what kind of drama may transpire at this lovely new estate. The Fleet Captain and his wife lead a very drama free life. But, when you factor in the intrigue of the servants and the guests... there's always something afoot!

A long drive leads from Christinburg to Downton. The Fleet Captain often accesses the home vy helicopter from the regional capital of West Forest. After all, with Queensferry forces entrenched along the coast, one must always be ready at a moment's notice.

At the entrance gate, we get our first glimpse at the estate

Let's see fabulous Downton Abbey...

Let's head inside to meet the cast and have dinner...

The happy owners

Remembering their honeymoon just a few months ago...

Let's go inside for dinner. I hear there's Fancy Feast on gold plated plates.

Care for some witty repartee over dinner?

Afterward, we can retire to the salon for the evening

I am sure we can be very much entertained

We can stroll the grounds...

The servants do a great job maintaining the estate

With a house full of cats, there's always going to be something going on...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoe3CoxcYm0

Welcome to Downton Abbey!

East Tenne: It's A Rather Small World

Today when we visit the World's Fair, we will ride on one of the coolest rides they have! It's A Rather Small World is a miniature train ride through the history of Schulmania. And at each stop there's costumed interpreters and cool interactive exhibits. Let's head to the expo site now.

We'll arrive at the Expo Station ready for a fun filled day

We can buy our ride tickets when we get out entrance tickets

There's many other attractions at the park. But today, we're headed straight to the Midway.

There's a fun new ride which will sweep you majestically across the centuries of feline history in Schulmania. It's called "It's A Rather Small World" because Disney has more lawyers than we do.  Care to sing along as we ride through?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIxXXSufOAo

Enjoy your ride! And remember, accept no substitutes! (Such as this one:)

Middle Tenne: Holston

Located at the headwaters of the Holston River, the town of Holston is as far west as any place in Schulmania... for now. This remote location was selected due to an ambitious project launched by Prince Excalibur and the Evean Vansop Commerce Authority. The Eveans want to establish a shorter trade route between their island nation, west of Schulmania, and their feline customers. Since the western coast of Schulmania has not been settled, Evean ships must circumnavigate the continent before arriving at Schulminion ports. Now that there are a few airports, cargo may be shipped in by air. But, of course, that aint cheap. The solution is the new Great Western Road, which will connect Schulmania to the west and the riches which await there. The road starts at Blankenship and now extends to just past Holston at the western border of the Middle Tenne District. To help defray the expense of this massive project, the Eveans have extracted a unique concession from the Schulminion government: the right to establish travel plazas along the way to provide services to and earn schulmonetas from travelers. Holston is the first such stop on the route. The town was built by the Schulminion City Planning Office and the travel plaza by the Evean consortium. The travel plaza is quite a contrast to the town; built in contemporary Evean style with consideration for Schulminion sensibilities.

The Holston area is a densely wooded area ripe for development

The town itself is built in a quaint early Schulmanicus style

It reminds you of ancient cities like Busscastle and Wirt

Except for the Great Western Road running through it...

Definitely some nice backyard space for the kittens to play and hunt in...

Best friends Kevin and Jonah live next door. They like to chase yarn balls in the street after school... once their homework is done of course.

The Smith Family Restaurant on the corner offers traditional feline fare with transitional Schulmania flair.

Meanwhile, friends Hannah and Anna headed over to Mia's house to bake cookies. They're going for a feline favorite flavor - salmon chip cookies. Om nom nom!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqL7jyrXhLs

The Bureau of Feline Affairs has an office on the corner to serve the needs and whims of the feline populace

Local businessman Drew McClure, half brother of Springfield's famous actor Troy McClure (you might remember him from such movies as The President's Neck Is Missing and Dial M for Murderousness), runs a strip shopping center here in Holston. Here, you'll find such familiar Schulminion favorites as the Leech Apothecary and Garrett's Clawable Couches & More. The local farmer's market, the Garden of Aiden, is named for the local farmer. He mainly grows crops to feed to prey animals but also has a wicked cool corn maze in the fall. You should try it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY8SS_qlchk
Do you remember Troy?

The lovely yellow stucco church on the corner serves the community and travelers on the Great Western Road

The town hall is next door to the vet clinic. No one likes going to the vet... but everyone likes seeing the doctor...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqImkDgDwHU

At the town market you can get all sorts of cool stuff... from flea collars to space chips...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnPGDWD_oLE

All of this is made possible by the Great Western Road project. Let's see the other part of this area: the travel plaza built by the Evean Vansop investors.

Our partners have secured several big names for our first travel service plaza. They built parking lots, as the contractors tend to do for other clients. They'll be surprised when no motorized vehicles show up!

Three of the new tenants of the plaza are favorites of COL Hester Tubaflame, who has been traveling around the nation recruiting new members to the military

Side by side chicken places bring in the carnivorous feline crowd...

Black Cat Hardware, an Ace Hardware franchisee, serves the needs of those traveling overland for dry goods and various sundries. There's also a great Mexican restaurant. I recommend the fajitas con carne.

We'll be back to see more of Holston, the Great Western Road, and of course the travel service plazas. Until then,... safe travels!

East Tenne: Townsite

The capital's fifth arrondissement, Townsite, is a government district along the coast, overlooking the government-heavy fourth arrondissement, The Citadel. Most of Schulmania's main government facilities are located within these two districts, giving the area the "Government Quarter" moniker. Today, we continue our tour of The Townsite with the Nepeta Square environs. Nepeta is the scientific name for the national flower, catnip. Nepeta Square is the home to the Catnip Comptroller's Office, or CCO. The CCO ensures the quality of catnip sold in Schulmania, providing inspections and quality standards. Catnip is not only the preferred tea for felines but also the basis for most feline medicine. Nearby is the Catnip Research Institute, or CRI. The CRI researches catnip and its properties, looking for ever better ways to improve crop yield and find new uses for catnip products. The Great Catnip Market is the largest wholesale marketplace for catnip in the nation. Think of it as the Wall Street of catnip.

The Catnip Comptroller's Office is at the heart of the catnip industry

More work could be done if the pigeons on the roof weren't so deliciously tempting...

Across the street is the Catnip Market

This is the largest trading center for catnip in the world. Over 200,000 schulmonetas of catnip is traded daily. That's a lot of catnip!

The Catnip Research Institute, or CNI, is working on a new use for catnip: catnip toothpaste. This should please the dentists in Schulmania greatly!

This talk of catnip is making me hungry. Let's go find a snack!

How about the Frisky Feline Cafe?

A local favorite is the House of Tuna. They have a tuna flavored Pounce that's rated 5 stars!

Om nom nom!

Mickey's Mice & More offers a great selection of fresh game with all sorts of great sauces!

Afterwards, we can stroll through Silver Vine Park

As we depart the Townsite, let's look back at the bustling Nepeta Square...

East Tenne: Isle of Bruce

Pursuant to Proclamation of the Supreme Wirdle 163-11982, the Isle of Bruce Special Economic Zone Act, written 22 August 2013, the Isle of Bruce, located in the Wirdle River in the capital's first arronidissement, will be subject to certain economic development incentives and development opportunities as stipulated by the Supreme Wirdle:

After consultation with the Bank of the Government of Schulmania, the Royal Treasury, the National Capital Region Finance Office and the Bureau of Feline Affairs Privy Council, I have decided to designate the Isle of Bruce in District I of the National Capital Region as a Special Economic Zone. This decision is designed to create synergy between major feline businesses and civic organizations, each receiving economic incentives to establish and maintain a significant presence in proximity to one another. The incentives for the feline organizations are as follows:

First, any feline business or civic organization employing over 10,000 felines in Schulmania establishing a headquarters building will receive a 100% indefinite deferral of all property taxes associated with the building for as long as the structure remains fully occupied and engaged as the headquarters for the petitioning entity. Should the headquarters building be abandoned or become secondary to the petitioner entity, the taxes will become due with interest.

Second, necessary utilities for the daily operation of the headquarters buildings will be paid by the local government indefinitely, provided that the petitioner maintains the status of the building as stipulated above,

Third, these incentives are available only to feline owned companies operating in the Feline Realms (Schulmania, Harar and Leeviousia) unless special dispensation has been granted to a petitioner by my designee, the Royal Treasury of Schulmania.

Fourth, subject to design review and approval by the City Planning Office, there will be no restrictions imposed upon the aforementioned headquarters buildings in terms of height or style.

Fifth, the Transit Office is hereby authorized to construct and maintain as many bridges of whatever configuration it deems necessary to facilitate and expedite the full development of the Special Economic Zone. The costs of construction and maintenance will be paid by the Royal Treasury and not passed on to local government or businesses in the Special Economic Zone.

With these words, the Supreme Wirdle set forth a level of commercial development hitherto unseen in all of the Feline Realms. And now, to fulfill the destiny of Schulmania.

There are 5 bridges crossing the Wirdle River through the Isle of Bruce. The East Tenne Avenue bridge crosses the island, connecting the north and south shores. The 13th Street Bridge connects to the south shore and the 14th Street Bridge to the north shore. Melbourne Bridge faces west but connects to the south shore of the Wirdle River. There is also a ferry terminal on the island. Now to enter the bustling isle.

The 13th Street Bridge

The 14th Street Bridge

The East Tenne Avenue Bridge, heading to the south shore and the Royal Quarter

You might think the island is small and can't have many amenities. But you would be wrong-o! There are several parks as well as museums, theaters and other attractions. And of course, a collection of buildings which dwarf those therwise built in Schulmania. Let's see what I am talking about.

The Melbourne Bridge carries pedestrian and wagon traffic onto the island through scenic and woodsy Carbide Park. Carbide Park is best known for Freedom Tower and Chateau Miranda. It's also a nice wooded spot well suited to picnics, bird watching, squirrel pouncing and other fun activities.

Freedom Tower is a commemoration for the feline soldiers who have defended Schulmania against Queensferry. You have a great view if you want to climb to the observation deck at the top.

Stadtpark is another park on the Isle of Bruce. The walking trails and flowers make for a pleasant view for the residents living next to it.

As can be seen in these typical shots from around the island, much of the Isle of Bruce looks like the typical Schulminion city and the other districts of the capital.

This dense midrise development gives way to the defining structures on the isle...

Our first stop is the campus of the University of East Tenne- Oak Ridge. UETOR has a campus right in the heart of the island. A full complement of coursework, both undergraduate and graduate, is available for students.

University Chapel also hosts the university's Religious Studies program

Meow Plaza is a nice urban gathering spot. It's a great place for urban workers to take their lunch or theatergoers to relax before or after a show.

And now for something completely different...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGK8IC-bGnU

The Pollard Auditorium is next to Meow Plaza. It is one of the most prestigious performing arts venues in the nation. The Supreme Wirdle did the ribbon cutting and attended the first performance, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.

As we look over the university campus, we see the crown of a much taller building. There are several large structures clustered here, thanks in large part to the special development project the Supreme Wirdle approved.

The Alexander Inn is now the largest, tallest hotel in the nation. The rooms are all suites and there are 25 concierges on staff to tend to the needs and wants of esteemed guests.

The new headquarters of SchulmaniCorp, the largest company in Schulmania, dominates the skyline along with two other towers

SchulmaniCorp, Feline National Bank and Cat Head Industries are the three largest buildings in the nation and are all together in the heart of the Isle of Bruce

The three towers, with SchulmaniCorp at left, Cat Head Industries at center (top) and Feline National Bank at right
