BSC No Maxis Mod not Working

Hello BSC Helpers,

Last night I got to the point that I have enough Custom structures that I figured I could go completely Maxis free. So, I downloaded the recently released no BSC mod, created a folder in /My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins named "aaa_no maxis," dropped in the files from the zip, and began playing a new city.

Well, Maxis buildings started to grow! I have the rest of my plugins in Plugins_Compressed and a few essentials .dats, extra cheats, and extra terrain tools "loose" in my plugins folder.

I figured that since these .dat's modify how the simulator chooses which buildings to grow that the folder needed to load first, hence the "aaa" prefix.

If its any help, I was previously using DT's No Maxis Mod to block all Maxis R structures.

I always keep these in the main program folder - in my case C:\Program Files\Maxis\Plugins\xxx
where xxx is the sub folder with one each for residentials, commercials and industrials.
I have been using this set for a long time with no problems of Maxis growing so have no idea why they aren't for you.

Try to put them in a zzzz subfolder under My Documents, you may have a mod that renable the buildings

I tried Barby's solution first but Maxis buildings still grew. So, I then tried wouanagaine's and the scourge of Maxis buildings disappeared!

I will take some screenshots this evening. I have around 2GB of plugins, however, there are only a few that modify game mechanics so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out the culprit.

Hi,

I have problems with this no maxis mod too, only slightly more  :thumbsdown:.....
Starting a new city, no problem, every thing is working fine.
Starting an existing city after this installation, the entire game shuts down  &sly
I'm eager awaiting this list of files that might be in conflict with no-maxis-mod...
I have put these in subfolders like zzzz_ an so forth but what can I do now but uninstalling the damn thing, all of it???

The plop mod is in conflict with the no-maxis-mod, but its supposed to be the other way round: The plop mod shouldn't work when no-maxis-mod is installed.

I keep my set of no Maxis files in C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Plugins and have never had any problems with the set that is on the LEX.

The Plop Modd allows you to plop all the growable maxis buildings. After installing it you'll find the buildings in the landmark menu.
Visit Vorsfelde.

I think that adding the mod to an existing city is not compatible, especially if some maxis lots have already grown. This is however pure speculation, but as the mod modify the lot examplar, it may explain your crash.

Not true, according to my testing. I had a large (~400,000) city that has both Maxis and custom content in it. I have started new development with the No Maxis Mod and the city has been stable for upwards of four hours of play time.
